I went to see Aunt Dora Johnson and Mrs. Hall Jan. 1, 1941, New Year Day.
Paul Jones moved from T. W. Briley's old place, Jan. 3 and 4, 1941.
Harris Webb moved in the house that Paul Jones left Jan. 4, 1941.
Jabie Summers and Dock Jones came, around making up for Mr. Gregory, Jan. 4, 1941.
Pauline George died Jan. 9, 1941.

March 3, 1941, Monday night it rained, hail, thundered, lightening and the wind was high, sure a bad time for 30 minutes.

March 4, We washed, and our clothes froze, 1941.
Eugene Glover died March 4, 1941, age 18, he was a cousin of Belle Link.
I went to see Aunt Dora Johnson and Uncle Ewin Howell March 6, 1941.
Clarence Trousdale Keen died March 1, 1941 age 55 years.
Edward W. Griffin died March 9, 1941, a brother to Nick Griffin.
Elizabeth and Doris came to see us March 10, and went home the 12, 1941.
Ina Lamberth died March 12, 1941, wife of Stan Lamberth.
Joel Wilkerson moved in Billie Wilkerson's store March 15, 1941.

Louise Hester, Thelma and Erma Griffin spent Saturday with us April 12, 1941.
Dorothy L. Link spent Saturday night with us April 12, 1941.

Easter Sunday, we had for dinner Harry Link's family, Irby Hester's family and Aunt Dora Johnson and in the afternoon Dorothy Whitley came to see Dorothy Link.

We sent Lilllie Hutchison her Easter supper.
Monday I went to see Aunt Dora Johnson April 7, 1941 came home Wed. eve. 1941.
Uncle Pink White's house burned down April 16,1941, he lived at Fountain Head, Tenn.
Harris Mallory and Cora Bush married April 8, 1941.

David Briley died May 8, 1941.

Ellen Mayes and Traughber Hall married May 13, 1941. *(Ellen is a sister to Mittie Mayes Jernigan, my sister in law's  (Ann Durrett) mother and Ellen is her aunt. mj)

We all went to Tommie Hester's On Mothers Day, May 11, 1941, there was 34 there.

We all went over to Mr. L. B. Whitley's Fathers Day, Sunday June 15, 1941, all of his children was there but one. Charles was absent. Mr. Lem Howell and Jim Clay *(Illegible, mj) was here from Bowling Green, Ky. They made music, there was 20 or 30 there, all had a fine time and my what a good dinner.

A big rain fell June 29, 1941 Sunday Eve.

Mr. Harrison Howell died July 14, 1941, age 80 years, he was a brother of Uncle Ewin Howell.
I spent the day with Harry's family July 15, 1941, Belle went to see Dr. Smart.

I came home from Irbys July 19,1941, spent 2 weeks with them.
Mr. Johnson Lane died July 20, 1941, age 73.

Woodrow Linson left out Camp July 11, 1941, came back home the 14.

Jeff our good old dog was given away July 29, 1941, he was 6 years old and had all ways behaved his self. Another dog came and taken his place, Sorry.

Dr. J. W. Smart died Nov. 16, 1941, age 80 years, 2 mo. 12 days. Born Sept 4, 1861. * (Dr. Smart was my mother in law's,( Lela Smart Johnson) Uncle, a brother to her dad, James Marion.  He was married three times, had two children by his first wife, Maggie Anthony - George Taylor and Ida Belle, married Emma UNKNOWN and had a son, Leonard ( Jack).  His third marriage was to Cassie Henderson, two children, Dean and another that died young, named Ellis (died at the age of six). Dr. J. W. Smart is buried in Walnut Grove Church Cemetery beside his  third wife Cass , who died in 1962)mj

Bombed Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941. *(I remember that day very clearly, heard it on a radio and was hard to believe. That was the beginning of WW II and was a very bad time for everyone.)

Granville had a Birthday Dec. 7, 1941, age 43, 19 ate dinner with him.

Margarete Whitley went to the Hospital Dec. 18, 1941 in West Virginia and Ralph bought his 2 little children to his fathers Dec. 20, Ralph went home Dec. 21, 1941.

Irby carried Irene, Hugh and myself to Portland, Dec. 20, 1941, all had a good time Xmas Shopping.
