Leon Greer came to see us on New Year's Day in the morning, good luck for a man to make the 1st company trip. 1942

Brasneal Garrison died Jan. 5, 1942, age 42.
Snowed Jan. 3 and 7, and the Thomether 28 below Zero on Thursday morning Cold I Say, 1942.
Mr. Miles died Jan. 15, 1942, Fred Miles Father.
John Hicks and Fronie Guill married Jan. 1942.
Bettie Johnson died Jan. 25, 1942, age 9 years , 5 months.

February 1942

Mrs. Nina Smart died Feb. 4, 1942, Lillard Smart's mother. *(Mrs. James Marion Smart and sister in law to Dr. J. W. Smart.  Other children were Lela Johnson, Beulah Crafton and Lizzie Stinson. Her son Clarence was killed by a train in 1914.  She was the daughter of George and Lizzie Lucas Belcher and was my husband's grandmother. I think she died with a brain tumor. mj)

Irby Hester moved to Portland, Tenn. Feb. 7, 1942 at Lizzie Atchison.
I went home with Irby Jan. 31 and came home Feb. 5, 1942.
Leon Broadrick and Evie Carmack married Feb. 9, 1942.
Ground Hog Day Feb. 2, and he sure saw his shadow 1942.
Feb. 23, rained and snowed that night and is still on the ground last day Feb. 28, 1942.
Old Age checks came in Feb. 28, 1942, the last one I got. Quit
Bessie Groves and John Rippy married Feb. 28, 1942.

First day of March came in like a lamb and the last day of March went out like a lamb. 1942
Monday rained and snowed that night 1942.
Lizzie, John Greers old mule died March 5, 1942.

Another notice from Barber the Undertaker March 10, 1942.
June Wilkerson's little baby died March 11, 1942, age 3 months.
Robert Hester died March 13, 1942, Anna Appling's husband.
I went to Irby and family March 21 and came home March 28, 1942.
Harold Earnest Eidson died March 29, 1942 age 32.
Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Goodman died March 30, 1942 age 71, 3 mo., 14 da.

Ewell McGlothlin and Louise Hester married April 4, 1942.
Ewell Vaughn and Lucy Turner married April 4, 1942.
Irene and myself went to see Mrs. Mary Briley April 21, 1942.

May the 10th Mothers Day, we all went to Earnest Bowlings had a fine dinner, 24 present, will meet at Nola Johnson's next year.

James Harold Harper died the 10, 1942, age 21, Gordie Griffins grandson. * (James Harold Harper killed in a plane crash in Ga., Lieut. Harper was one of four army fliers killed when their plane collided near Hahira. He was a star football and baseball player of Sumner County High School here later attended Austin Peay Normal at Clarksville, Tenn. where he became interested in flying) from the scrap book of Lizzie Briley mj

Mrs. Rosie Wilkerson Estes died May 3, 1942, age 65, buried at Pleasant Valley Church.
Alice Link Garrison died May 5, 1942.
John Henry Link's sister died in Louisville, Ky. Buried at Halltown.
Roger and Emma Hester came to see us May 17, 1942 from Detroit, Mich.
We all went to Luther Hester's Sunday May 24, 1942 and Irby Hester's family.

Vernon Linson and Virginia Huff married June 6, 1942, Blonnie Linson's son.
Uncle Jeff Rodgers died June 7, 1942, age 85, 3 months and 20 days buried at Jake Link graveyard.

Cleaned Jake Link Graveyard off 1st Sat. in June.

Harry's family spent June 14th with us 1942.
Dorothy May Hall and Carl Dunning married June 12, 1942, Virgil Johnson's granddaughter.

Mr. Bill Goodman spent Sunday with us July 5, 1942.
Mrs. Alice Bowling came July 3rd and went home the 5, 1942.
Irby and his family came to see us July 4th, 1942 , we made ice cream.
Frank Bradley died July 27, 1942, a brother of John Bradley at Clear View.
Mrs. Gray died July 30, 1942, Ammon Elks Mother in law.
I went to Aunt Dora Johnson's July 28 came home 31, 1942.

Aunt Kate Walker died Aug. 2, 1942, age 82, buried at Walnut Grove.
I had a sick spell Aug. 9, 1942, my doctor was R. W. Simonton, Portland, Tenn.
Link Reunion Aug. 16, 1942, All Ways the 3rd Sunday in Aug.
Election Day was Aug. 6, 1942.
Mrs. Maude Humbrick Allen died Aug. 19, 1942, age 71, Lillie Johnson's mother.

Carried Mrs. Mary Briley to Portland Aug. 22, 1942, she had to be carried in an ambulance, was very sick and the next eve Sunday 23, she died.

Mrs. Mary Briley died Aug. 23, 1942, age 69, buried at Portland Maple Hill.

Leon Durrett and Leska Lane married Sept 6, 1942. * (Leon is the son of Leslie and Cora Durrett and brother to the transcriber mj.  Leska Lane is from Orlinda and is the daughter of Lercie and Lovella Lane. Leon was in the U.S. Army and married while on leave from the Army. They have just celebrated their 60th anniv. In 2002. mj)

Gordon Hollis died Sept. 4, 1942, age 63 buried at Portland, Tenn.
I went to Harry's Sept 2, 1942, came home the 10, Mrs. Alice B. came home with me.
James Williams came home with Hugh from school Tuesday night Sept. 15, 1942.
Icy Searcy died Sept 29, 1942, Dick Searcy's wife.
I went to Portland Sept. 20, 1942, came home the 26, from Irby's.

Mrs. Clyde Broadrick spent the day with us Nov. 14, 1942.
Ivan Conn Freeman and Brownie Ninetta Hurd married Nov. 7, 1942.
Monroe I. Brinkley died Nov. 12, 1942 age 82.
Aunt Matilda Wilkerson died Nov. 23, 1942 age 85, buried Thanksgiving Day.
