Snowed today Jan. 1, 1945. The sun shined out different times in the eve. Jan.1, 1945. Jan. 2,  zero cold 1945 sun shin too.

Cotton Durrett *(Ernest, my brother, mj) came in. Good luck for a man to come to your home Jan.2, 1945.

It rained all day , the 6 and 7 and 8 Jan. 9, 1945.
I got my bandage Jan. 8, 1944.

Mrs. Lucy Wright died Jan. 9, 1945, age (100) hundred, 10 months, and 9 days, Mrs. Wright was born Feb. 24, 1844.

Mrs. Della Griffin died Jan. 11, 1945.
Mr. Clyde Broadrick's son Leon Wounded in War 1945.
I subscribed for the Gallatin paper Jan. 18, 1945. (Thursday)
Mettie Payne moved to Aunt Dora Johnson's Jan. 14, 1945 Sunday.
Mettie spent Tuesday night with us January 16, 1945.
Mrs. Laura Summers ate dinner with us Jan. 19, 1945.
Granville, Irene and myself ate dinner with Aunt Dora and Mettie January 21, 1945.

Roger and Emma Hester, Irby's family spent Sunday with us March 25, 1945 and in the eve, Luther and Edna Hester and Sarah Auterburn, Blonnie and Nannie Linson and Missie Mathenson spent the eve. with us.

Roger and Emma left out for their home in Detroit, Mich. March 27, 1945.
Missie Mathenson came to see her sister, Mrs. Dora Johnson March 25, 1945, and went home the 26.

Granville, Irene and Hugh went to Tommie Hester's Thursday March 29, 1945 after Hay.
Harry moved to Will McGlothlin March 30, 1945.
Tommie Hester moved to Earnest B. place March 30, 1945.

George Parham died March 30, 1945 Age 67.
Mrs. Ella Bradley Dorris died March 29, 1945 age 81, Mother of Mrs. Johnnie Legge.

Uncle John Turner ate dinner with us March 13, 1945. (col) The last time he ate with us, Roger and Emma Hester was here.

Irby went to be examined for the War April 2, 1945, I stayed with his family.
Belle, Harry, Dot, Marvin, Ethel McGlothlin and Irby's family spent Easter Sunday with us April 1, 1945.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt died April 12, 1945, age 63 Birthday Jan. 20.
Our New President is Harry S. Truman.
Mrs. Alice Bowling came to see us April 15, 1945.
Charlie Johnson's family came to see Aunt Dora April 14, 1945.
Irby's family spent Sunday with us April 14, 1945 and Saturday night here too.
Mat Ray died April 20, 1945, buried at Portland Saturday.

Irene and Louise went to see Irby Hester's family Monday April 30, 1945 and came home May 2, 1945.

Russell Link's wife died May 16, 1945 age 49.
I went to Tommie Hester May 7, run around visiting until May 19, 1945.
Mrs. Ethel McGlothlin, Belle and Dot Link brought me home May 19, 1945.
Tommie Hester came to see us May 1945.
Irby and his family spent Sunday with us May 20, 1945, that was Irby's Birthday, he was 28.
Ava Link came by to see us May 20, 1945 and Aunt Cora Howell came too.

June 3, 1945 Sunday Eve., A Memorial Service paying tribute to the men in Armed Forces from the community who have been killed in action during World War II will be held at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on Highway 25 near here Sunday Afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Pastor the Rev. J. B. Onsley, Springfield in charge. The men who will be honored are: Sgt. William Edward Hester, Pvt. Ewell Lee McGlothlin, and Pvt. Charles Presley George.

Richard Whitley came home June 10, 1945 Sunday morning.
Charlie Johnson and family came in to see Aunt Dora , June 8, 1945 on business.
Charlie Johnson went to see Bettie Matherson Sunday 10, 1945 Sunday , Aunt Dora's sister.
Marvin and Ethel McGlothlin and Harry's family came to see us June 10, 1945.
Billie Moore and family came June 10, 1945.
Mettie Payne sold her part of Uncle Boon Johnson's place June the 11, 1945.

Mr. and Mrs. Whitley and Dick Whitley went to Providence, Ky. Thursday morning to see Cora Duffer June 14, 1945.

Charlie Johnson went home June 14, 1945 after the land sale.
Mettie bought her a home in Portland ,Tenn. June 12, 1945 Sold out Dock.
Littie Briley died June 15, 1945.
Joanna Wilkerson Hester died June 20, 1945 age 80, buried at Walnut Grove.
Mrs. Alice Bowling came to see us June 17, and went home June 20, 1945.

Dorothy Link came to see us June 16, 1945 spent a week. Dot went home June 26, 1945.
Ida White McGlothlin died June 21, 1945, a sister in law of John Groves.
Irene and myself went to see Margaret Whitley June 22, 1945 at L. B. Whitley's home.
Charles, Richard, Ralph and LeRoy Whitley all came home in June, 1945.
Dee Glover bought Bill Cummings home June 1945.

Bill Johnson came home July 1, 1945, Nola and Jim Johnson's son.

Mr. McMurtry and Mr. Less Durrett came July 1, 1945, rained while they were here. *(Mr. McMurtry is my mothers brother and my uncle and Less Durrett is my father. mj)

Ralph and Margaret Whitley and children went home in West Virginia July 1945.

We had a good rain July 1, 1945 and Sunday morning another good rain and Sunday eve. another rain, 2 more rains on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Wildmond came July 15, 1945 a cold day.
I had a sick spell July 10, 1945.
Myrtle B. and Lee Smith came July 10, 1945.

Aunt Dora Johnson came twice July 10, 1945. She brought me some rice.
Hugh came home from Ernest B. July 14, 1945 and went to Franklin, Ky. at noon.
It rained July 14, 1945.
Granville had his horses shod July 14, 1945.
Mrs. Whitley and Aunt Cora Howell spent the evening with me July 12, 1945.
Jack and Irene went to J. E. Armstrong's Store July 12, 1945.
Irby and his family spent the day with us July 8, 1945.
Sunday eve. John, Dick and Carneal Whitley came by to see us July 8, 1945.
Monday Dick left July 9 to go back to the army.
Henry Thomas Elks came home from the State Pen at Nashville July 9 1945, spent 2 years there.
We went to see J. T. Link and Luther Hester July 18, 1945.
Lee Jones died July 20, 1945, he lived in Portland, Tenn.

Mrs. Dovie Rogers Dillard died Aug. 9, 1945 age 73, buried in Maple Hill, Portland, Tenn.

Vernon F. Wendt died Aug. 13, 1945 age 27, son of Alvin Wendt and a brother of Tollie Wendt. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in Indianapolis, Ind., buried in Maple Hill.

Verna Hester came to see us Aug. 6, 1945 and she went home the 8th.
Irene and myself had a sick spell Aug. 10, 1945.

Hugh Link joined the Church at Pleasant Valley, Aug. 4, 1945.
Mrs. Alice, Ernest and Beulah Bowling spent the day with us Aug. 12. 1945.
Edna Hester came home from the hospital Aug. 1945.
Aug. 15, Raining pretty hard 1945.
Andy Biggs died Aug. 28, 1945.
Mrs. Lura Legge fell and hurt herself Aug. 1945.

Dr. J. T. Spain died Oct 10, 1945, the doctor lived in Cross Plains, Tenn.
Irene Jones went to the St. Thomas Hospital Oct. 11, 1945.
I went to see J. T. Link Oct. 3, 1945.
Bill Goodman came home from the hospital Oct. 15, 1945.
Melvin Briley and Elizabeth Buntin married Oct. 13, 1945.
Mrs. Etta Fisher moved into Jessie McMurtry's house Oct. 8, 1945.
I spent the night with Aunt Dora J. Oct. 17, 1945.
Charlie Johnson's family came to see Aunt Dora Oct. 14, 1945.
Aunt Dora spent the day with us Oct. 20, 1945.

Sunday Nov. 18, 1945 was my Birthday. I was 73 years old. Had a fine dinner and all of my Children and their family were here and some friends too. Marvin and Ethel McGlothlin, Aunt Cora Howell and in the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Lercy Whitley and Mr. Whitley's brother Wiseman Whitley.

I went home with Irby's family Nov. 18, 1945.
Mettie Payne moved in the house with Dr. Simonton at Portland Nov. 1945.
Mr. L. T. Crossley died Nov. 18, 1945, husband of Lillie Turner lived at Russellville, Ky.

Charlie Johnson's family came in Nov. 20, 1945 and moved Aunt Dora to her sisters, Missie Materison Nov. 20, 1945.

Lillian Link and children, Tommie Hester and Verne and Dot Link came Nov. 25, 1945.
Johnnie and Goldie Ray's house burned down Nov. 1945.

Irby and his family and Nola Broadrick spent Thanksgiving Day with us. Irby and Hugh went hunting, Nov. 29, 1945.

I sent for my calendars at N.Y. Nov. 30, 1945.
Aunt Helen Ford died Nov. 23, 1945 age 98.

Mr. J. T. Link died Dec. 7, 1945, age 83.
Mr. John M. Stout died Dec. 7, 1945, a brother of Charlie Stout.
Gen. George Smith Patton got hurt over in Germany, Sunday Dec. 9, 1945.
Thursday Snow, Rain, Sleet and the wind is high, Dec. 13, 1945.
Ruth Webb Lynch died Dec. 16, 1945, buried at Jake Link grave yard age 23 years.
Granville killed his hogs Dec. 17, 1945.
Tuesday snowed, sleeted and is still snowing Dec. 18, 1945.

Heulelburg *(don't know how to spell it either, mj) Germany Dec. 21, 1945, General George Smith Patton died Dec. 21, got hurt Dec. 9, 1945 age 60.

Mrs. Cora Sheucraft died Dec. 21, 1945 age 62.
President Harry Ship Truman spoke over the radio, Christmas Eve. Dec. 24, at 4 o'clock, 1945.
Nelson From moved in Aunt Dora Johnson house.
Nelson From and family spent the night Dec. 30, 1945.

Well Christmas Day Dec. 25, 1945, we had no company at all. Shame on YOU.
I got 43 Christmas cards for the year 1945.

It rained Christmas Eve. night and Hugh and Elmer Lynch got stuck with their truck Dec. 24, 1945, Pretty bad boys.

Irene went up to see Ernest Bowling's family Dec. 25, 1945, Christmas Visit.
Roger Hester came in to see his brother Luther, Dec. 22, 1945.
Irene went to see her Ma Dec. 28 and came home the 29, 1945.
Aunt Cora Howell spent the day with us Dec. 29, 1945.

Irby and his family came to see us Dec. 29, 1945 and spent the night and Sunday too, than went to Mr. Broadricks Sunday night.

Roger Hester came to see us Dec. 29, 1945 and went to Luther's Monday morning Dec. 31, Roger left for his home Jan. 1, 1945
