The people of Shackle Island community were greatly shocked Wednesday of last week when news reached here of the death of Mrs. Sallie Moore Clendening, age 77, at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Overall at Dyer, Tenn. She was called to Wiggins, Miss., by the death of her son just one month prior to her death and the shock was too great for her. On her return home she became so weak she stopped with her son-in-law at Dyer for a rest but she gradually declined until death came. Mrs. Clendening had resided with her daughter, Mrs. John F. Garrison of Shackle Island for several years. She was a charter member of Beech Chapter No. 61 and was an honored member and was present at every meeting possible for her to attend. She was a member of M. E. Church of Dyer where her funeral was preached last Thursday afternoon. "Cousin Sallie" as she was familiarly known will be very greatly missed by her large circle of friends at this place.
