Young Man Loses Life

Willie Dyer, aged 29 years, died instantly on Tuesday night of last week in Bryan, Texas, when he was run over by a freight train and his head was cut off by the passing train. He and a companion named Wilson of Alabama, were together on their way from Houston to Corsicana and while Wilson stood reading a road map with his back to the railroad track Young Dyer was standing behind him and after the train passed, Wilson looked around to see Dyer's head lying on one side of the track and his body on the other. Just how the happening took place is unknown to the family. Whether he fell in front of the train or was standing to close when it passed will probably never be known. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Dyer of Hartsville; his wife, Mrs. Frieda Beasley Dyer; three brothers and four sisters, Leslie, Earl, Miss Mizelle Dyer and. Mrs. Luther Reid, all of Hartsville; Ira Dyer of Hendersonville, and Mrs. Maggie Wright and Mrs. Ora Porter, both of  near Dixon Springs. Young Dyer was born and reared near Hillsdale. The remains arrived at Hartsville Saturday morning and burial was made in the Hartsville Cemetery at three o'clock Saturday afternoon, following funeral services conducted by Elder Calvin Gregory. The deceased was a member of the Hartsville Baptist church.
