Funeral services for James Reuben (Tint) Jernigan, 76, were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at Portland Church of Christ, with the pastor, Elder Chas. Tidwell in charge. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Mr. Jernigan, a native of Robertson County, and prominent in Upper Sumner County business circles for many years, having been a tobacco dealer, flour mill operator, and in later years in the retail grocery business, died at the home of his son, Elder Frank Jernigan, five miles west of Portland, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after a five week's illness resulting from a paralytic stroke suffered a year ago. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Nora Groves Jernigan, and one son, Elder Frank Jernigan, both of the Portland section.
