Mrs. Mary A. Pruett
Mrs. Mary A. Pruett, a highly esteemed lady of the Second District, died Sunday, May 27, at her home near Cairo. She was 73 years old and her death resulted from the infirmities of age. The deceased was born and reared in Sumner County and here she had spent her entire life. She had been a consistent member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were conducted at the residence Monday afternoon by Rev. Mr. Hayes of the Methodist Church. The burial followed at the family burying ground.

Carr Suddarth
Carr, the 18 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Suddarth, died Monday, May 21st, at the home of his parents near Cairo. The cause of his death was bronchial pneumonia, his illness being of short duration. He is survived by his parents, five brothers and six sisters, namely: J. T., W. C., Henry, Davis and Bate Suddarth, of Gallatin. Mesdames John Rankin, Henry Gray, Porter Stone, Nat Robertson and Misses Laura and Nannie Suddarth. The funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at Corum Hill Church by Rev. Alfred Robertson. Interment at Corum Hill burying ground. Carr was a bright, promising young man and an apt scholar. He was loved and admired for his gentlemanly qualities by all who knew him. His death is deeply regretted by a host of sympathetic friends.

Walter D. Harrison
Walter D. Harrison, son of Mrs. Ellen Harrison, died Sunday, May 13th, at Alberquerque, New Mexico. The burial took place on May 18th at Cincinnati, Ohio. The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Veda Harrison.

Mrs. Jane B. Woodall
Aunt Jane Woodall as she was familiarly known, died June 2nd and was buried June 3rd at Pleasant Hill Church of which she had been a member for many years. Aunt Jane was 75 years old, was a daughter of Jesse Bradley. She had been in declining health since 1914, being a paralytic and then cancer of the stomach was the cause of her death. In early girlhood she married Jas. Woodall. To this union four sons were born, all of whom survived and were present at the time of her death. Her dying words to her husband and sons were "live in peace with all mankind and meet me in the Great Beyond." Aunt Jane had many friends which was shown by the immense crowd at the funeral and the floral offerings. A hand of sympathy is extended to the sorrowing family. One who loved her.

Miss Mattie Penn
Miss Mattie Penn died Saturday, June 2nd, after an illness of several months, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Penn on the Coles Ferry Pike. The deceased was 34 years of age and a young lady of excellent Christian character who enjoyed the friendship and esteem of a wife circle of friends. She was a devoted member of the Christian Church. During recent years she had held several responsible positions in Gallatin; one with the Naive-Spillers Company and another with the Shamberger Real Estate Company. Funeral services were conducted at the Gallatin Christian Church at 3 o'clock p. m. Sunday by Rev. H. L. Olmstead. The burial followed at the Gallatin Cemetery.

Mrs. Lucy Hudson
Mrs. Lucy Hudson, wife of Joe Hudson, of the Center Point community, died at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Thursday night, May 24th, aged 39 years, as a result of an operation for goiter. Mrs. Hudson had been in declining health for several months on account of this, and as a last resort to regain her health, submitted to an operation from which she never recovered. She was the daughter of Mrs. L. C. Puncheon, and was well and favorably known throughout the community.

Felix Grundy Morris, aged 72 years, died Sunday, May 27th, at his home at Belotes Bend. He left no family.

Miss Anna Lee
Miss Anna Lee, daughter of Tom Lee, died Monday night at the home of her Father near Westmoreland. She was a member of the Methodist Church. The burial took place yesterday at New Hope.

Mrs. Emily Brizendine
Mrs. Emily Brizendine, a highly respected lady of the Buck Lodge Community, and widow of the late Esq. L. M. Brizendine, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Richard Ashlock, June 3, 1917, age 61 years. She was a member of the Christian Church for 20 years, and while an invalid for a number of years, she bore her affliction without murmur or complaint. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Joe Wilson and Mrs. Richard Ashlock, of Buck Lodge and Mrs. Chas. Roney, of South Tunnel. Interment at Old Fountain Head the following day. Services by Rev. Mr. Braswell.

Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Hunter were called to Nashville last week by the death of Mrs. Hunter's brother, Mr. John Young.

John Short
Mr. John Short, a brother of Mr. Robert Short, of the Buntin Pike Community, and who formerly lived here, but for the past few years has lived with his daughter, Mrs. Bickerstaff, at Nubia, 17th District, this county, died Sunday night at the home of his son, Will Short, with nervous break-down followed by paralysis, aged 63 years, and was buried Monday at Short's Cemetery. Westmoreland
Miss Virgie Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lee, died at her home Monday, June 11th. After s short home service Tuesday at 10 a. m., conducted by Rev. J. F. Morelock, the remains were conveyed to the New Hope Church where the main service was continued in the presence of a large congregation of sorrowing friends and relatives, after which interment was made in the New Hope Cemetery. Miss Lee's death was due to tuberculosis from which she had been an extreme sufferer for several months. She was the fourth victim of this family to succumb to the dread disease during the past six years. The first, Miss Annie Lee, died about six years ago, last year Mr. Jesse Lee a young man of near 23 years and Mrs. Irma Lee Riggs. One sister, Miss Barbara, and one brother, Jim Lee, are the only ones left from a family of six. Mr. and Mrs. Lee have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in this sad hour of bereavement. Miss Virgie was twenty-six years of age and for a number of years had been a member of the Methodist Church.
"Uncle Dick" Freeman, one of the oldest, if not the oldest citizens of Macon County died at his home on Long Creek Sunday, June 10th. His death was largely due to the infirmities of old age. During the last month of his life he took practically no nourishment. He was 93 years old and was the father of fifteen children, nine of whom survive him. He was the grandfather of J. S. Freeman of Westmoreland.
Mr. Ben Heath of near Westmoreland died at his home Tuesday, June 12th. Burial occurred Wednesday afternoon at Pleasant Grove. Services conducted by Mr. Raz Stinson. Mr. Heath was 75 years of age. His death was due to kidney trouble. He is survived by several children.

A. D. Cantrell
Mr. A. D. Cantrell, a respected citizen of the Hollis Chapel Community, died Tuesday, June 26, aged 70 years. He had been in declining health for a number of years. He leaves a wife who has also been an invalid for several years, owing to an accident. Funeral services by Rev. M. T. Reddick and interment at Old Brush burying ground.

Fountain Head
I am requested to state that the funeral of Mrs. Ed. Graves will be preached by the Rev. Mr. Russell at Fairfield the second Sunday in July at 10 o'clock a. m.
A. D. Cantrell, who lived near here, died June 26th. He was in the 70th year of his age, and was buried the next day at the Old Brush Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Elder S. T. Reddick.
