Glen Harley CLOUSE, 90, of Portland died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009.  A Portland native, Clouse relocated to Michigan where he graduated from Vermontville High School.  He returned to Portland where he has been a resident for 64 years.  He was a farmer, member of Sheet Metal Local 177 in Nashville, 64-year member of the Portland Masonic Lodge, and a 76-year member of Hollis Chapel General Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Reeder Clouse and Ida Holmes Briley Clouse; infant daughter, Teresa Lee Clouse, son, Harley Delano Clouse, sisters, Irene Clouse and Catherine Stout and Lera McCloud and brother Jack Clouse.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eleanor Cron Clouse of Portland, and two daughters. Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

Laurence S. Hendricks, 94, of Franklin, Ky., died on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 at the Medical Center in Franklin, Ky.  The Simpson County, Ky. native was the son of the late Chester Hendricks and Martha Ertner Hendricks.  He was a member of Franklin First Baptist Church and co-owner of Hendricks and Anderson Trucking.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed playing the harmonica.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Lena Weidemann, Hazel Anderson and Anna Graef and a brother, Frank Hendricks.  Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Franklin First Baptist Church.  Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

J.T. CRABTREE, age 94, of Portland, passed away December 30, 2008. He was born in Gainesboro, Tenn., on March 9, 1914. He retired from the L&N Railroad after 44 years of service, was a Grand Master Mason, a church deacon, and was a member of the Portland Senior Citizens Club. He is preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla Crabtree; sons, James Theodis Crabtree, Paul Allen Crabtree; parents, Clarence and Ada Roberts Crabtree.  Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2009, at New Hope Church.  Interment will be at the church cemetery.

Mary Onezima RALPH BRADLEY, 85, of Cottontown died on Monday, January 5, 2009 at Baptist Hospital.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Bradley, parents, Luther and Hester Ralph, and sister, Carleen Ralph.  Funeral services were held on Thursday, Jan. 8, at Portland Church of Christ.  Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lorine Katherine SEARCY, 90, of Portland died on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009.  She was a Kendall Co. retiree, member of Portland Church of Christ, Highland Rim Historical Society, West Portland Homemakers Club and The ladies Auxiliary at Highland Hospital.  She was a prolific quilter having won numerous awards at the Sumner County Fair.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Searcy, and her son, Stanley Searcy.  Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 9, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Earleen Gay SPEARS BASKERVILLE, 66, of Portland died on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The West Virginia native was born to the late Earl P. Spears and Mildred Louise Shockley Spears.  She was a caregiver.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George Spears and Ronnie Spears.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Donald Ray POOLE, 43, of Portland died on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009.  The Simpson County native was born Feb. 6, 1965.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Restlawn Memory Gardens.

Elzie LOUDEN, Jr., 74, of Portland died on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009.  The Lee County, Ky. native was born Aug. 26, 1934, to the late Elzie Kelton and Russecella Couch Louden.  He was a member of the Cherry Mound Lodge, and Victory Chapel Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lee Louden.  Funeral services were held on Thursday, Jan. 22, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery.

Billy Clayton DORRIS, 73, of Cottontown died on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at his home.  The Sumner County native was born June 1, 1935, to the late Edwin and Georgia Ethel York.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, J. W. Dorris.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Carol Wells PERRY, 68, of Franklin, Ky., died on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at Vanderbilt Hospital.  The Pontiac, Mich., native was born the daughter of the late Melvin Wells and Sibyl Seldon Wells.  She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lindell Perry, a daughter, Linda Perry; and a grandson, Dustin Wade Perry.  Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 26, at Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Crafton Funeral Home of Franklin was in charge of all arrangements.

Arthur "Artie" William BERGMAN, 65, of Portland died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Brooklyn, N. Y. native was born May 6, 1943 to the late Joshua and Esther Bergman.  He was the former owner/operator of Portland's Rebel Rouser Pizza, Pasta and Subs.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Catherine Bergman.  A memorial service was held on Thursday, Feb. 5, at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Entombment was at Gallatin Cemetery at Crestview Memorial Park.

Judy Paulette LATIMER, 63, of White House died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 at Centennial Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born Aug. 18, 1945 to the late Paul and Ruby Dobbs.  Funeral services were at 1 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Old Brush Cemetery.

Robert Odell FELTS, 73, of Portland died on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Nashville native was born June 16, 1935, to the late Clarence and Mary Felts.  Funeral services were held on Sunday, Feb. 1, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Mitchellville General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jerry Wayne CARTER, 63, of Portland died on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009 at his residence.  The Portland native was born April 17, 1945 to the late Roy Carter and Flossie Bell Carter.  He was a printer.  Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 30, at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Burial was in Restlawn Memory Gardens.

Mary Frances NEACE, 70, of Portland died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born June 15, 1938, to the late George Richard and Mary Lou Brigance.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, 1st Lt. William A. Edens, and brothers James Oliver Brigance, George Richard Brigance, Jr., and Joe Frank Dorris.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park.

Arnold "Arnie" O'CONNOR, Jr., 53, of Orlinda died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009.  The Galveston, Texas native was born August 25, 1955.  Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 30, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Caney Creek Cemetery in Caneyville, Ky.

Flossie Haydeen LILLARD, 87, of Portland died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Highland Manor Nursing Home.  The Portland native was born April 12, 1921, to the late Charles Monroe Keen and Pearlie Henrietta Graves Keen.  She was a caregiver.  She was a member of Union Chapel Church.  Portland Funeral Chapel was in charge of all arrangements.  Interment was in Gallatin Memorial Park at Crestview.

Helen Lucy TAYLOR, 85, of Portland died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The New York native was born June 14, 1923 to the late Archie Holmes and Laura Victoria Alice Black Holmes.  She was a hairdresser.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Courtley Taylor.  Funeral services were at 1 pm on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Interment was at Gallatin Memorial Park at Crestview.

Alvin Wayne VENTRESS, 69, of Portland died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 , at his residence.  The Sumner County native was born June 23, 2939 to the late Ned Roy and Gladys Beatrice Livingston Ventress.  Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

Franklin D. JOHNSON, 76, of Indianapolis, Ind. died Wednesday, Feb 11, 2009.  The Sumner County native was born Jan. 24, 1933, to Coy and Ida Johnson.  He served in the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.  He retired from Chrysler in 1983.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge.  Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 13, at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home.  Interment was in Washington Park North Cemetery.

Elmore Allen GREEN, 92, of Portland departed this earthly world to be with his Heavenly Father on Feb. 10, 2009 at N.H.C. of Springfield.  He was a wonderful husband and a loving father.  He was a gentle man with respect for others. He was retired from BellSouth Telephone Co. and a member of the Portland First Baptist Church and had over 20 years experience to the Oak Street Mission.  He was a World War II veteran serving in Germany.  He was a local historian and a contributor to The Portland Leader.  He enjoyed photography, restoring antique gasoline engines and player pianos.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years.  Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 14, at Portland First Baptist Church.  Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pansy Clarinda PARKER, 94, of Portland died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009.  The Sumner County native was born June 9, 1914, to the late Charles Monroe and Pearlie Henrietta Keen.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Cecil Parker.  Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 12, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Crestview Memorial Park.

Steven Randall EMORD, 44, of Portland died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2007 at St. Thomas Hospital.  The Davidson County native was born on Aug. 22, 1964.  He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Emord.  Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 23 at Cheatham County Funeral Home.  Interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Kathleen RONEY, 91, of Portland died Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born Dec. 23, 1917, to the late Virgil Keller and Lila Keller Mallory.  Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 19, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Bro. Eldridge SHERRON, 76, of Portland died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born March 18, 1932, to the late Walter Sherron and Clemmie Pauline Kirkham Sherron.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Anne Taylor Sherron; son, Terry Lee Sherron, daughter, Linda Kay Sherron; and son in law, Craig Arnold.  Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 21, at the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home.  Burial was in Rock Bridge Cemetery.

Lola Mae BRADLEY EMPSON , 96, died on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009.  Mrs. Empson was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught 40 years in the Sumner County school system.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Empson, in 2001.  Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Linda Sue WISEMAN McCOWN, 70, of Portland died on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009.  The Portland native was the daughter of Lewis S. Wiseman and the late Adaline Wiseman.  She was a graduate of Belmont University and MTSU.  She was a retired teacher from Wilson County Schools and formerly taught at Portland High School as business teacher.  In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. McCown.  Funeral services were held on Monday, March 2, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home  Interment was at Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Claude Wendell CHERRY, 70, of Portland died on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born Dec. 21, 1938, to the late James and Lucille Cherry.   Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Selma BRIDGES, 88, of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009.  The Sumner County native was born May 12, 1920 to the late Ed and Bell Durham.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bridges. Graveside services were held on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Alma Rhea WHITE, 81, of Cottontown died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Sumner County native was born Feb. 4, 1928 to the late Thomas and Iva Lou Pitt.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur White.  Funeral services were Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Halltown Cemetery.

Gladys Evelyn BROWN, 85, of Franklin, Ky. died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  The Sumner County native is the daughter of the late Lonnie Durham and Myrtle Lee Moye Durham.  She was a homemaker and a member of Rockbridge Baptist Church.  Funeral services were Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Rosie Frances HUFF, 72, of Portland died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Simpson County native was born May 26, 1936, to the late Samuel and Lillie Estelle Stahl.  She was preceded in death by two sons.  Funeral services were Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Crestview Memorial Park.

Louise KEY, 94, of Portland died Sunday, March 15, 2009.  The Sumner County native was born Oct. 22, 1914, to the late William "Sonny" and Dolly Whitson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denville Key, and four sons, Hubert, Paul, Gilbert, and Eugene Key.  Funeral services were Tuesday, March 17, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Florence Hicks FREEMAN, 68, of Alvaton, Ky., died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at her residence.  The Simpson County, Ky., native was the daughter of the late Jurell Hicks and Daisy Ivo Hedgecough Hicks.  She was a former employee of Moore's Drug Co. and was a caregiver to the elderly.  Mrs. Freeman was a devoted member of Salmon's General Baptist Church and Women's Missionary Group.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Hicks and Bobby Hicks.  Funeral services were Tuesday, March 17, at Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was in Restlawn Memory Gardens.

James Hugh STEWART, 89, of Portland died Monday, March 9, 2009.  The Sumner County native was born Aug. 20, 1919, to the late Albert Lee Stewart and Hazel DeWeese.  He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and a retired millwright.  After retirement he became an avid woodworker.  He enjoyed reading, and read the Bible daily.  Funeral services were Wednesday, March 11, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

Kristen Kay HUNTER, 11, of Portland died on Sunday, March 22, 2009.  The Sumner County native was born Sept. 9, 1997.  She was a member of Shannon Strack's fifth-grade class at North Sumner Elementary.  She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Guy and Mildred Hunter, Patrick and Willie Mai Martino, John and Alzina Larchar, and Jean Wunder.  She is survived by her mother, father, two sisters, on stepsister, grandparents, and great grandfather.  Funeral services were Wednesday, March 25 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

Joshua A. MITTELSTRASSER, 24, of Cottontown died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  He was a Baptist and a construction worker.  Funeral services were Monday, March 23, at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.  Burial was in Tom Link Cemetery.

Darlene CARTER, 47, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday, March 18, 2009.  The Sumner County native was the daughter of Clayton Edward Bradley of Gallatin and the late Margaret Frances Browner Bradley.  She was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church and a school bus driver for Rutherford County Schools.  In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a son, Brandon Mark Yates.  Funeral services were Saturday, March 21, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.  Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Margaret Dean MANUEL, 74, of Westmoreland died Monday, March 16, 2009.  The Sumner County native was born Feb. 2, 1935 to the late Herman and Rena Wainscott.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Manuel; grandson, Jason Marshall.  Funeral services were Thursday, March 19, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was at Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Hobert ESTEP, 72, of Scottsville, Ky., died Monday, March 23, 2009.  Funeral services were Friday, March 27, 2009 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Portland Memorial Gardens.

Luther Wilson NAPIER, 70, of Portland died Friday, March 27, 2009 at Skyline Medical Center.  The Scottsville, Ky. native was born in December, 1938 to the late Olga Wilson Napier and Mary Bessie Howell Napier.  He was a store manager for Houchen's for 35 years.  He was a member of McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by Oleta O'Neal Napier, the mother of his three sons.  Funeral services were Sunday, March 29, 2009 at McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Portland Funeral Chapel was in charge of all arrangements.

Jason Henry COOK, 28, of Franklin, Ky., died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Greenview Regional Hospital.  The Nashville native was born Aug. 14, 1980.  He was a plumber.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, April 4.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Everett Lee SHREVE, III, 21, of Portland died on Tuesday, March 31, 2009.  He was born in Terre Haute, Ind., April 18, 1987.  Funeral services were held at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Fairfield Cemetery.

Laura Mai SMALLWOOD BARLOW, 86, of Portland, died on Monday, March 30, 2009.  She was a member of the Portland Church of Christ.  Laura is preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Barlow.  Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 1, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Portland Memorial Gardens.

Lawrence Brady DURHAM, Jr., 87, of Franklin, Ky. died Wednesday, April 8, 2009.  The former Franklin Police chief and Sumner County native was the son of the late Lawrence B. Durham, Sr. and Cammie Fleming Durham.  He served his country in World War II and saw action in the South Pacific theater.  He completed a tour of duty in Saipan, Japan, after which he settled in Franklin and pursued a career in law enforcement.  He served as a city patrolman from 1952 until 1962 and as chief of police from 1962 until 1969.  In 1975 he worked as foreman for Chrysler Air Temp in Bowling Green, Ky., until the closing of the plant, returning back to Franklin Police Department as a dispatcher from 1975 until his retirement in the late 1980s.  At his retirement, former Mayor Larry T. Freas recognized Durham as a longtime leader in the city and with the police department by naming a day as the Lawrence "Jr." Durham Day in the city.  His badge number, 921, was retired in tribute to his service.  Mr. Durham was a long standing member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion and VFW.  He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Draper Durham; sister, Ruth Durham Carter; and a grandson, Rondal Wayne Durham.  Services were Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Herman BUSH, 68, of Bethpage, died on Friday, April 17, 2009 at his residence.  He was born in Sumner County on March 22, 1941 to the late Herman and Annie Bush.  He was retired from General Electric.  Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

Helen Moore HAYES, 79, of Hendersonville died on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Vanco Manor Nursing Center.  A native of Sumner County, she was born to the late Tommy and Maybelle Long.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Key.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from the chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Linda Faye LOVELL, 58, of Westmoreland died on Tuesday, April 13, 2009 at her residence.  She was born in Sumner County on April 28, 1950.  She was preceded in death by her father, Astor Hodges, and sister, Charlotte Hodges. Graveside services were held on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Maple Hill Cemetery.  Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Ann Wells MARKSBERRY, 86, of the Spike Knob Community died on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health Systems.  She was born in Daviess County, Ky. on July 25, 1922 to the late James Worden Wells and Clara Estes Wells.  She retired from Owensboro Daviess County Hospital in 1983 where she was the assistant manager of the Dietary Department.  She was a member of Owensboro Christian Church and a 68 year member and Past Matron of Goal Chapter #104 Easter Star of Ensor.  Her husband, Louis James Marksberry, preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2008.  She was also preceded in death by her sister, Rachel Wells Thompson, and brother, Ewing Wells. Services were held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro, Ky.  Burial was in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Betty Jean Blakemore PAYNE, 61, of Cross Plains died on Sunday, March 22, 2009.  She was born June 3, 1947 to Lassie B. Blakemore and the late Earl B. Blakemore.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus in Hopkinsville, Ky.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Utley, and two brothers, William Roscoe Blakemore and Henry Lee Blakemore.  Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Oak Grove Baptist Church.  Serenity Funeral Home of Springfield was in charge of arrangements.

Robert JOHNSON, 60, of Portland died on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at his residence.  He was born in Hartsville, Tennessee to Robert Johnson, Jr. and Dorothy Brister Johnson.  He was a member of Harvest Field Baptist Church in Pegram and he attended Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church in Portland.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in dearth by a daughter, Tracy Leigh Johnson, and a brother, David Johnson.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 28, at Mt. Henry David WHITE, 94, of Indianapolis, Ind., previously of Portland, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at his residence.  He was born fEb. 30, 1915, in Fountain Head.  He was an accomplished Mason and carpenter and retired serving as a security guard for the local American Legion Post in Indianapolis.  He was a World War II Veteran with the United States Navy and an avid hunter and gardener.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Eva B. (Hesson), his son Marion Thomas and daughter Wanda Gayle Martin.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 9, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

Donald "Don" Hawkins, 51, of Portland died on Monday, May 4, 2009.  The Nashville native was born March 26, 1958, to the late Charles Edward Hawkins.  Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 7, at Family Heritage Funeral Home.  Burial was in Sycamore Cemetery in Gassaway.

Lewis Truman UTLEY, age 72, of Portland, passed away April 24, 2009, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. He was born in Simpson County, Ky., to the late Floyd and Della Utley. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Wallace Perry RULAPAUGH, 90, of Rowlett, Texas, died on Sunday, June 14, 2009.  He was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Castile, N. Y., to Wallace I. and Blanche Adams Rulapaugh.  Perry proudly served in the U. S. Army and was an iron worker by trade.  He was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church in Garland, Texas.  A memorial service was held on Thursday, June 18, at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rowlett, Texas.  (A daughter is a resident of Portland).

Pauline S. ELLIOTT, 93, of Portland died on Friday, July 3, 2009.  The Portland native was born June 12, 1916, to the late Erett Suttle and Cleva Kelley Suttle.  She was a member of the only girls' basketball team to win a district championship.  She is a past employee of CEMC, a bookkeeper for Elliott Builders for 20 years and was active in community affairs and was an avid golfer.  She was a member of the Portland First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joel Elliott.  Funeral services were held on Monday, July 6, 2009, at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

Rhyon Wilson SUTTLE, 45, of Bethpage, died on Thursday July 30, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Elder James E. She was one of the oldest members of McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dudley (Peaches) Harris, son-in-law, Charles E. Mary Madison GARRETT 87, of Franklin, Ky. died on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at her residence.  The Scottsville, Ky. native was the daughter of the late Victor Madison and the late Dora Motley Madison. She was the wife of the late Paul Thomas Garrett. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught the Ruth Sunday School class and served as chairman of the research and editing committee for the church's history book and helped with costumes and make-up for the church productions. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Salmons Homemakers Club, Simpson County Archives, Southern Ky. Genealogy Society, Simpson County Retired Teachers Association, Utopia Club, charter member of the Simpson County Historical Society, served as a 4H leader, and served on the Simpson County Extension Board.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Holcomb Pitchford and Marie Gerald.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 19 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18 and from 6 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Booker Gilbert Funeral Home. Edna Bell KIDD, 84, of Portland died on Wednesday, August 19, 2009.  She was born in Fentress County on March 26, 1925 to the late Harrison and Deliah Bell. Dorothy B. BELCHER, 80, of Portland died on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009 at her residence.  The North Carolina native was born Sept. 3, 1928, to the late Fred O. Parton and Ida McClure Parton.  She was a nurse attendant.  She was preceded in death by sons Jackson Belcher and James Bud Belcher; sisters Dora Randolph and Mildred Belcher; and brother Joe Parton.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.

Gerald Richard GRANDMAISON, 65, of Portland died on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at his home.  The Michigan native was born July 31, 1944 to Elizabeth Colburn Bulford Smith of Novi, Mich. and the late Gerald Grandmaison. He was a customer service representative for Chrysler. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Alex Jackson will officiate the service. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Donald Carroll LANE, 75, of Franklin, Ky. died on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky.  The Robertson County native was the son of the late Fay Lane and Willie Ann America Clinard Lane. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of the Bethel Grove Church of Christ.  Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 7 at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Robertson County.

Walter Lee JOHNSON, 70, of Portland died on Thursday, September 3, 2009. The Sumner County native was born August 7, 1939 to the late Roger and Tennie Johnson. He was retired from CEMC, and was a Deacon at New Hope Baptist Church.  Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Betty Lou McCaleb McNEIL, 74, of Waverly died on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Waverly native was born July 20, 1935.  She was a retired bootmaker for Acme Boot Company in Waverly and a member of Waverly Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by her parents Merriman Bela and Lillian Grace Moore McCaleb.  Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly.  Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery in New Johnsonville.

Celeste Edna King FERGUSON, 82, of Franklin, Ky. died on Friday, September 11, 2009. A native of Cumberland County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Homer King and Nora King. She was retired from the Kendall Company. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Howard E. (Alabama) WESTBROOK, 82, of Portland died on Tuesday, September 8, 2009.  He was born in Piedmont, Calhoun, AL on July 4, 1927 to the late Robert Oscar and Maude (Smart) Westbrook. He was married 56 years to Margaret (Livingston) Westbrook. Tammy Carol WHITSON, 40, of Portland died on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at her residence.  The Indianapolis, Ind. native was born Feb. 3, 1969.  Religious services were held on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Interment was in Jake Link Cemetery.

Rev. Hollis F. NEALY, 88, of Franklin, Ky. died on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at The Medical Center in Franklin.  A native of Warren County, Ky., he was the son of the late Ewing Nealy and Demmie Duckett Nealy.  He retired from L & N railroad and was a minister of the gospel for over 50 years.  He was a certified foster parent and received the Kentucky Foster Parent of the Year Award.  Rev. Nealy was a member of the Nazarene Church in Franklin.  He was preceded in death by his wife Jewell "Mae" Pirtle Nealy; daughter Shirley Law; sons, Darrell Freeman Nealy and Gary Weldon; sisters, Myrtle Board, Mae Cooper, Kay Neely and Ivy Byrd; and brothers Delbert, Albert, Edward, Harry, and Johnny Nealy.  Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Crafton Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.  Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Billy Thomas PARDUE, 76, of Westmoreland died on Wednesday, September 23, 2009.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and retired from Peterbilt.  He was preceded in death by parents, Tom and Cassie Pardue; son, Gary Richard Pardue; and grandson, Terry Shannon Pardue.  He was married 57 years. Barbara "June" Pitchford GREEN, 90, of Portland died on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009.  She was a member of the Portland First Baptist Church for over 50 years. Troy Allen ALDRIDGE, 60, of Portland died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009.  The Sumner County resident was born June 1, 1949, to Louise Wright Aldridge and the late Gus Aldridge.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Aldridge.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park.

Carolyn E. GRIFFITH, 54, of Portland died on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 at Hendersonville Hospital.  She was born July 24, 1955, in Philadelphia to the late Paul R. Jeff STURM, 40, of Lafayette died on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 at his residence.  He was born in Mahoning County, Ohio on July 30, 1969 to William and Rose Marie Grear Sturm of Wooster, Ohio.  He was a heavy equipment operator for the Charles Deweese Construction Company in Franklin, Ky. and a member of the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department in Sumner County.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs.  Interment was in Kendall Cemetery.

Jimmy Loyd BARBER, 60, of Panama City, FL. died Monday, Oct 12, 2009.  A Portland native, he was born May 4, 1949 to Loyd Barber and the Late Bertha Ray Barber.  He was a member of the Portland High School Panther football team, class of 1967.  He traded in his Purple and White for Western Kentucky Red and White, becoming a star linebacker for the Hilltoppers class of 1972.  He was inducted into the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.  He graduated from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1977.  He served as a Public Health Officer in the United States Air Force, retiring as a major in 1997 after 20 years of service.  Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 17, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Restlawn Memory Gardens.

William Loyd BROWN, 62, of Portland died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at his residence.  The Portland native was born Sept. 19, 1947, to Ann Brown and the late Elvis Brown.  He was a forklift operator at Peterbilt.  He served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was a member of the Portland Church of Christ.  Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 17, at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Esther BUTLER, 93, of Portland died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009.  She was born April 8, 1916, to Lily and Adolph Burysek on the family farm near Portland.  A loving wife and mother, cherished grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she was active all her life in serving her Lord through the local churches she attended.  She was a charter member of Lemoyne Baptist Church of Lemoyne, Ohio.  Most recently she was a member and pianist at Immanuel Baptist Church in her hometown of Portland.  Before marriage, during WWII, she worked in the shipyards of Portland, Ore. as a welder assembling tanker ships for the war effort.  She was married in March, 1948 and spent over 33 years in Toledo, Ohio raising her family before returning to Tennessee.  Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Albert Lawrence Butler; sister Ruth Mathias, brothers, Robert Burysek, Albert Burysek, and William Burysek; and granddaughter Faith Butler.  Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 17 at The Immanuel Baptist Church in Portland.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

Randall Lee HALE, 56, of Indianapolis died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 after a short battle with cancer.  The Indiana native was born Oct. 31, 1952 to the late Robert Wayne Hale of Cottontown and Inez Zenobia Chasteen of Indiana.  He served in the United States Air Force for four years and followed his father's trade in the vinyl siding business.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Forest Eugene Hale; half sister, Marcia Diane Walters of Scottsville, Ky; and stepbrother David Foley of Vidor, Texas.

Terry Ray INMAN, 54, of Hendersonville died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2009.  He was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Inman.

George W. PERDUE, 64, of the Pleasant Grove Community in Westmoreland died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 at his residence.  Mr. Perdue was a Missionary Baptist Minister and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  He was retired from McKee Baking Co.  He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Perdue.  Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 17, from the Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home.  Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Pearl Jean "Polly" Heady COLE, 76, of Tucson, Ariz., died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 after a long illness.  She was born in Gainesboro, Tn., Oct. 8, 1933, to the late Luke Bayless and Irene Sisco Heady.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Wanda Cole.  Final arrangements will be in Las Vegas.

Kimberly Kilgore WILSON of Portland died on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 from cancer.  She was born in Shreveport, La. to Merle Kilgore and Dot Patrick. She moved to Nashville at a young age as her father began to have success as a songwriter, including "More and More," "Wolverton Mountain" and "Ring of Fire." She lived for many years in Madison, most recently residing in Portland. She was an animal lover, seamstress and furniture sales expert with a lifelong love of music and song writing.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Wilson, and father, Merle Kilgore.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 at the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Hendersonville Memory Gardens.

Bertha Irene Vaughn GOSNELL, 69, of Franklin, Ky. died on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at the Auburn Nursing Facility in Auburn, Ky.  A native of Simpson County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late John Davis Vaughn and the late Eddy Louise Shaw Vaughn. Talmadge Lee OWEN, 81, of Westmoreland died on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.  He was the son of the late Emmitt and Eddie Lee Grizzle Owen. He was retired from the Ford Glass Plant.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Owen, and a sister, Frances Owen.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland. Interment will follow in the Rippy Cemetery.

Earl B. DURHAM, 79, of Bethpage died on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  He was born in Sumner County on May 4, 1930 to the late Russell and Veola Durham.  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home. Interment was at Sulphur Fork Church Cemetery.

Charles J. GROVES, 70, of Portland died on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009 at his residence.  He was born May 10, 1939 to the late Lena Belle Groves. He was an assembler at Peterbilt.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Groves; brother, Larry; and sister, Christine.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Portland Funeral Chapel. Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

Raymond Allen SHELTON, 73, of Bethpage died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at Centennial Medical Center.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Joseph and Margaret Matthews Poole, and sister, Hazel Williamson.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Woodard Funeral Home Chapel in Westmoreland.  Interment was in Sumner Memorial Gardens in Gallatin.

Lillian M. YOUNG, 75, of Portland died on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  A Portland native, she was born Oct. 8, 1934, to the late Marion F. Rogers and Alma Lee Eden Rogers.  She was a housewife.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. Young; daughter, Joetta Thornton; and brothers, William Rogers and J. C. Rogers.  Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 23 at Portland Funeral Chapel.  Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

David Robert HOBDY, 90, of Portland died on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009.  He was born Jan. 17, 1919, to the late John and Effie Mae Hobdy.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Hobdy, and son, Robert Hobdy.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Maudedene Clark BRITT, 82, of Portland died on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009.  She was born in Sumner County on July 23, 1927, to the late Evan and Leola Wright.  he is preceded in death by her husbands, James Clark and Edwin Britt.  Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 20, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Thomas Edward ROBERTS, 72, of Portland died on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at his residence.  He was born on Nov. 15, 1937, to the late Leslie dillard and Martha Maybelle Roberts.  Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 20 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Old Brush Cemetery.

William Roscoe SWEATT, 82, of Portland died on Saturday, December 5, 2009.  The Sumner County native was born Feb. 5, 1927, to the late William and Dora Sweatt.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson Joe David Sweatt.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Mitchellville General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Clarence Robin WEBB, 49, of Gallatin, died on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009.  He was born in Indianapolis Ind. on July 2, 1960 to the late Roscoe and Joseph Sloan.  Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.

Lenore H. ALDEN, 91, of Portland, died on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at her home.  Mrs. Alden graduated from Sumner County High School in 1935.  She graduated from Western Kentucky University where she was a reference librarian at the Helms-Cravens Library for 17 years.  She was also an advisor for Kappa Delta Sorority for many years.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Watson Taylor Hardison and Eunice Marie Hill Hardison, as well as grandson, Tommy Alden and daughter in law, Janie Alden.  She follows in death, her husband of 55 years, John Dale Alden, a former special agent of the FBI, who died in 1991.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Ivie Deasy AUSBROOKS, 89, of Portland died on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.  The Portland native was born Oct. 15, 1920 to the late Mack Gary Perdue and Amie Lee (Hobdy).  She was retired as a secretary from Eli Lily and Co.  Funeral services were held at 11 am on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Portland Funeral Chapel.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

William Kenneth CLINE, 71 of Franklin, Ky. died on tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Britthaven Nursing Facility.  The Simpson County, Ky., native was the son of the late Beecham K. Cline and the late Jenny Walker Cline.  He was the husband of the late Mildred Johnson Cline.  He was a retired employee of WFKN radio in Franklin, Ky. and also worked on the Portland radio station.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.  Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, with interment in Bethany Church of Christ Cemetery in Simpson Co., Ky.  Military rites were conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard.

Sean Paul EVANS, 23, of Portland died on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009.  He was born in Danville, Pennsylvania on July 31, 1986.  Sean was a 200a4 graduate of Portland High School, an avid car enthusiast and pool player.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.

Bobby Dean VANATTA, 79, of Portland died on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.  The Sumner County native was born Jan. 22, 1930, to the late Leveret and Bessie Vanatta.  He was an avid Portland Panther fan, retired from Perilli Armstrong and had worked with the Portland Police Dept.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Lanny Vanatta and Randy Vanatta, sisters Barbara Wheeler, Lillie Poole, Lorell Collins, and Elsie Mai Webb; and brothers Richard Vanatta and J. D. Vanatta.  Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 6, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment in Maple Hill Cemetery.

William Byron HARPER, 60, of Portland died on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009.  He was born in Davidson County on Oct. 10, 1949, to the late James and Ruby Harper.  Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 23, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Fairfield Cemetery.

Wilford C. SHORT (25 March 1928) died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009.  He was a graduate of Sumner County High School, where he excelled in sports and public speaking.  He attended Union University on a football scholarship.  He served in the U. S. Marines and the U. S. Air Force.  He retired from Boy Scouts of America after 20-plus years as a Scout Executive.  He served as Portland City Judge for 20 years.  He was a member of McKendree Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleon and Buena Link Short.  Funeral services were held at 2 pm Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Lillie Mae POOLE, age 84, of Portland, passed away December 13, 2009, at her home. She was born in Allen County, Ky., on April 6, 1925, to the late Enoch Kelly and Lattie Pearl Pruitt Owen. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Carter Poole; sons, Willie Jay Poole, Bobby Ray Poole; sisters, Alice Briggance, Beulah Vadner and Betty Kirby.  Funeral service was at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Magdalene Bradley STAGGS, 92, of Franklin, Ky. died on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at The Hospice Center in Bowling Green, Ky.  The Sumner County native was the daughter of the late Walter Monroe Kepley and the late Ova Brown Kepley.  She was a retired employee of Potter & Brumfield and a member of the Round Pond Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Society.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, O. E. "Johnny" Bradley and William Melvin Staggs; a son, Jerry A. Bradley; a sister, Allie V. Neal; and two brothers, Home Kepley and George Kepley.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, Ky.  Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Ky.

Harold Thomas WILLIAMS, 73, of Portland died on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009.  He was preceded in death by brothers Douglas, Lee, Fred, and Robert Williams, and sister Gertrude Vance.  Funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park.

David Wayne NUCKOLS, 62, of Portland died on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009.  Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 13, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.

Elgin Joan JARRARD, 66, of Portland died on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009.  She was preceded in death by her son, David A. Hampton, and father, Fletcher Lee.  Funeral services were held on Wed., Dec. 23, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Portland Memorial Gardens.

Alice Christine KNIGHT, 86, of Portland died on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009.  She was a member of the Portland Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Knight Sr. and son Charles Eugene Knight, Jr.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Restlawn Memory Gardens.

Walter Terry HARDIN, 90, of Portland died on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009.  He was born in Sumner County on Sept. 20, 1919 to the late Clint and Leona Wendt Hardin.  He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Normandy during World War II.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sisters Ruby Damese, Pearl Briley, Ethel Poole, Tabitha Briley, and brother Claude Hardin.  Funeral services were held on Sat., Dec. 19, at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home.  Interment was in Hardin Cemetery.

Home L. MAYES, 85, of Cottontown died on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009.  He was born in Simpson County, Ky., on May 8, 1924 to the late Nealy and Nancy Denning Mayes.  He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Halltown General Baptist Church.  He is preceded in death by siblings Andrew, Mamie, Russell, Mittie, Gaither, and Willard.  Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Thursday, Dec. 17, at Halltown General Baptist Church.  Interment was at Halltown Cemetery.
