Martha (nickname Patsy) Durham was born about 1793 in Warren County, North Carolina to William Durham Jr. and Susanna (Shearin) Durham.

Patsy married Dinnan (Dinning/Denon) Moody November 20, 1811 in Sumner County, Tennessee. They were living in Lawrence County, Alabama, when he died May 27, 1825. His dying wish was that Martha keep all his property together for the purpose of raising their children. Martha and Dinning Moody were parents of seven children. The children were Cynthia Moody, Rolle Moody, Littleberry Moody, James E. Moody, Denon Moody, Alexander Durham Moody and Martha Moody.

Four years after Dinnan Moody's death Martha married James Pope August 30, 1829 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Martha and James Pope had three sons, Thomas Durham Pope, Isaac V. Pope and William A. Pope.

By 1850, Martha and her three teenage Pope sons had relocated to Itawamba County, Mississippi. James Pope apparently was deceased. Martha was still in Itawamba County in 1860, residing in the household of her son Isaac V. Pope.

Martha is not listed on the 1870 Itawamba County census. It is presumed she died in Itawamba County between the 1860 census and the 1870 census.

Cynthia Moody, daughter of Martha and Dinning Moody, was born between 1812 and 1825. Cynthia married Jacob Kinsey (Kinzey) August 24, 1834 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Cynthia's second husband was Jacob Nix.

Rolle Moody, son of Martha and Dinning Moody, was born between 1812 and 1825. Rolle married Sally Collier in Lawrence County, Alabama, January 21, 1836.

Martha and Dinning Moody's son Littleberry Moody was born between 1812 and 1825, probably in Lawrence County, Alabama. Littleberry was possibly the Littleberry Moody of Sumner County, TN, although there is no proof at this time.

James E. Moody, son of Martha and Dinning Moody, was born about 1823 in Alabama. James married Cynthia Randall April 7, 1850 in Itawamba County, Mississippi. They were parents of four children. James E. apparently died 1860-1866 (war?) because Cynthia Moody married John Pearce in Itawamba County October 10, 1866. Some of James and Cynthia Moody's children migrated to Greene County, Arkansas.

Dinning Moody, son of Martha and Dinning Moody, was born about 1814-1819, probably in Lawrence County, Alabama. Dinning married Melinda Suggs October 30, 1844 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Dinning was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War. In 1870 and 1880 Dinning and Melinda were in Lee County, Mississippi. They were parents of three children. He was deceased by 1894.

Alexander Durham Moody, son of Martha and Dinning Moody, was born between 1812 and 1825, probably in Lawrence County, Alabama.

Martha Moody, daughter of Martha and Dinning Moody, was born between 1812 and 1825, probably in Lawrence County, Alabama.

Thomas Durham Pope, son of Martha and her second husband James Pope, was born December 16, 1833 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Thomas married Mrs. Ellen (Richardson) Blair February 3, 1859 in Itawamba County, Mississippi. He was a Confederate soldier. Thomas and Ellen lived in Itawamba County 1860, Prentiss County, Mississippi 1870 and 1880, then migrated to Texas in 1894. In 1900, 1910 and 1920 they made their home in Coleman County, Texas. Thomas died March 2, 1920 in Coleman County, Texas. He and Ellen had four children.

Isaac V. Pope, son of Martha and James, was born about 1835, probably in Lawrence County, Alabama. Isaac married Mary Margaret Hignite May 8, 1859 in Itawamba County, Mississippi. Martha lived with Isaac and Mary in 1860. Their son, John T. Pope, was born about 1861 in Mississippi. Isaac was a Confederate soldier and died during the war.

William A. Pope, son of Martha and James, was born about 1836, probably in Lawrence County, Alabama. Willliam married Elizabeth Hall July 30, 1857 in Itawamba County, Mississippi. William was a Confederate soldier and died in the Battle of Chickamonga September 20, 1863. Elizabeth died between 1860 and 1870. They had three children who in 1870 and 1880 lived with their uncle and aunt, Thomas D. and Ellen Pope in Prentiss County, Mississippi.
