Isaac Martin Short, son of Isaac M. Short
and Polly Overby, was born in Sumner County, Tn. on 19 March 1824, died 8
December 1878. He married Jennetty White on 16 August 1846. Jennetty
was the dau of William White and Sarah Tyler. She was born 15 November
1830 (tombstone year; family Bible has 1832) died in Sumner County, Tn. on
14 May 1895. Isaac and Jennetty are buried in the Short Dickens Cemetery,

Sep 1895, married James White Griffin in Sumner County on 20 October 1868.
James, (son of Hardy Bennett Griffin and Sarah Roberts), was b 17 March
1846, d 29 September 1896. Jane and James are buried in the Friendship
Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Sumner County. Children of

Sumner County, Tn., d December 7, 1916 in Sumner County, Tn. Stephen married
Idella "Della" M. Latimer in Sumner County, Tn. on October 12, 1890. Della
was the dau of Daniel and Nancy Latimer. Steve Griffin operated a grocery
store in the Walnut Grove area in the early 1900's. Stephen and Della Griffin
are buried in the Gallatin Cemetery. Children of

Ruby M. Griffin, b 29 June 1908, d 17 April
1994 married Roy L. Vantrease 30 March 1929 (Marriage Index). Roy was
the son of Charles Leslie and Mary Vantrease. He was born 6 January 1907,
d 19 June 2000. Ruby and Roy had one son, Stephen L. Vantrease. Ruby
and Roy divorced and he married Gladys Barber, 15 May 1941 (Marriage Index).
It is unknown who Ruby

The 1870 and 1880 census for James W. and Jane Catherine Griffin lists
only Stephen M. Griffin. Family history from the Lee Short descendants say
that James White Griffin and Jane Catherine Short had 2 other
sons (possibly twins) that died young and were buried in the Short Dickens
Cemetery. The two names listed below were given by Margaret Short Jones with
the Short Bible information.

Lamberth was the dau of Henry Harrison Lamberth and Martha D. Harper. She
was a half sister to Sarah Elizabeth Lamberth Short.) On the 1930 Davidson
County, Tn. census, Belle Short was a widow, living with her brother William

probably in Robertson County, Tn. Clara was b 26 February 1892, d 5 August
1931, the daughter of Eli and Margaret Wilson.. Daniel and Clara are buried
in the Walnut Grove Church Cemetery. Clara and Daniel had no children. They
were not located on the 1930 census. Daniel married second to Edna Griffin
Hester, 27 March 1948. Edna Griffin was married previously to Luther
W. Hester in Sumner County on 12 March 1904.

Medora Ann are buried in the Short Dickens Cemetery in Sumner County.

24 March 1984. She married 1st to Blonnie Virgil Legge, Sr. in Sumner County
on 27 April 1918. Blonnie was killed in France in October, 1918. They had
one son, Blonnie Virgil Legge, Jr., b April 11, 1919, d June 10, 1985.
Clarence and Janie had no children together. Janie is buried
next to Blonnie Legge, Sr. in the Maple Hill Cemetery.

County, Tn., d 16 March 1905. Louisa married Leonard Davis Dickens
in Sumner County on 14 June 1877. Davis was the son of Dickson Dickens
and Martha F. Bush. Davis was b 3 March 1856, probably in Smith County,
Tn. His parents were married there in 1854 but by 1860 had moved to
Macon County, Tn. Davis died 4 February 1928 in Sumner County. He married
2nd to Adelia Bradley (who was previously married to Richard E. McGlothlin,
Thomas Jefferson Crafton and James Hatler) in Sumner County on 21 January
1909. They divorced in 1912. (See

her death in 1963. Davis Dickens and Delia Bradley had no children.

September 1886, d 10 April 1910. She is buried in the Short Cemetery.

second, in Indiana, to Lela Estelle Crafton, dau of Beulah Smart and Millard
Austin Crafton. Estelle was b 1 January 1916 in Sumner County, Tn.,
d in Portland, Tn. on 25 September 2000. Martin and Estelle are both
buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery.

Mae Smart in Sumner County on 2 November 1910. Lela was the daughter
of James Marion "Jim" Smart and Nina Adella Belcher. She was b 15 March
1892 in Sumner County, d 15 April 1989 in Sumner County. Luther and

d 16 March 1998. Guilford married Mildred Marie "Tis" Wiseman in Simpson
County, Franklin, Ky. on 26 December 1932. Tis was the daughter of James
William Wiseman, Sr. and Tempie Lane. She was b on 14 October 1915, d 22
March 2002. Guilford and Tis are buried in the Portland Memorial Gardens
Cemetery. They had 4 children.

County, Tampa, FL. J. D. and Marie are buried in the Portland Memorial Gardens
Cemetery.
