Atchison, KS. was created 1855 from "Unorganized Territory" (Note: KS was part of the Unorganized Territory 1828 to 1861, which was part of the Missouri Territory from 1803 to 1828, before that part of the Louisiana Purchase.) The County Seat is Atchison, KS 66002. It is located in the Northeast part of the State. It is bounded by Brown & Doniphan Co.'s on the North; Buchanan & Platte Co.'s MO on the East; Jefferson & Leavenworth Co.'s KS on the South; With Jackson Co. KS on the West.
