The most elusive person in my family tree is Samuel PETTIT, who lived, at least for a while, in Prince George's County Maryland or Washington, D. C. in the late 1800's. Do you have that name in your tree?
I have a late 1800's photo of Dr. PYLES from Clinton, Maryland. If he is your ancestor, I'd like to hear from you.
I am searching ancestors and families of the DICKERSON/SURRATT's and the CATOR's, of Prince George's County, Maryland, 1800's.
I am searching ancestors and family of William and Mary SWANN of Prince George's County, Maryland, early 1800's.
I am searching Wells ancestors and family who lived in Upper Marlboro area of Prince George's County, Maryland, mid to late 1800's, in particular, Josephine WELLS PURDY.
I am searching ancestors and family of George M TENLEY, 1820 - 1888 in Prince George's County, Maryland. He owned a store on the corner that is now Pyles Lumber, had 3 wives and many, many children.
I am searching ancestors and family of William Alfred PURDY, 1860 - 1917 in Prince George's County, Maryland.

Paul, I found your site while searching rootsweb for DICKERSON. I read with great interest about the SARRATT family, you have done an amazing amount of research. I am descended from the DICKERSON/SARRATT line. I have some different information than what you have listed for the DICKERSON descendency. If you are interested, I'd be happy to share what I have with you.
I had one question for you though, where does the SARRATT associated with the Lincoln assasination fit in with Joseph SARRATT (c1665-1715)? That was a very interesting story - one that I had not heard. Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for the kind words!, my mother told me a long time ago that "Sharing" was part of Genealogy! That's what I have been trying to do.
Which F.G. (DICKERSON/DICKSON) do I have different Info. than you? Let's pick a "Family Group" and compare notes!

Paul,
I'll give you my line as it descends directly from Henry Dickerson and Sussanah Sarratt.
Thomas Dickerson (1643-?) m. Elizabeth (1645-?)
Henry Dickerson (1685-1785) m. Susannah Sarratt (1685-1734)
Thomas Dickerson (1723-?) m. Elizabeth
Thomas Dickerson (15 Oct 1756-1836) m. Margaret Davis
Vachel Dickerson (9 Sep 1790-17 Dec 1863) m. Sidney Jolly (1 Apr 1800-1 Feb 1876)
Thomas Dickerson (26 Mar 1823-5 Nov 1865) m. Mary Eleanor Patterson (13 Jan 1829-?)
Lillie Mae Dickerson (24 Sep 1864-28 Jan 1954) m. William Henry King (18 Jul 1856-6 Sep 1892)
The Dickerson name ends there, and my line continues with King. There is some disagreement among Dickerson researchers as to the date of the 1756 Thomas' death. This particular one is listed in the DAR Lineage Books. I do hope that you won't mind questions about the Sarratt family, I have not ever found anyone else researching this line. All of the Dickerson "cousins" only know of their names. That is one reason I so enjoyed your site, plus the fact that I just love history. Look forward to hearing from you.

Subject: Re: Dickerson in Thompkinsville, Ky
Hi,
I believe my Great Grandfather, Albert Dickerson was a stepson of Solomon Dickerson who died in Tompkinsville KY.
There is a very good local genealogist at the local library in Tompkinsville Ky named, Dayton Birdwell. He does not specialize in Dickersons and as of a couple of years ago was not active on computers.
There is an internet connected genealogist in nearby Glasgow, named Sandi Gorin, that has been active on the Kentucky WEB system.
There was a lady who collected a large record of Dickerson's from previous researchers as well as doing a life time of work herself. Her files, Delores Crumrine Rutherford, are available from the Mormon's in Salt Lake City on two microfilms with about 1000 pages of data. Her files focus toward Dickerson's from Maryland in the 1600's and include Solomon, who moved to Tompkinsville KY around 1800, and John who moved into Washington County PA and founded, Dickerson's Run. Surratt [Dickerson Jr.] moved to Burbon County KY, and Died there leaving a will. A forth was Zadock, who stayed in Maryland, and his grandchildren founded Dickerson Maryland, but the Dickerson name has died out there.
Solomon's will was lost in KY, but I found a certified copy in Golconda IL where his slave Moses, registered it to prove his freedom.
Tompkinsville area had another line of Dickerson's from a Valintine Dickerson, that I believe are not connected to Solomon or the Maryland Dickerson's.
Tom and Delores Doyle published a book, "Three Hundred Years in America with the Mercers" that includes data on the Washington PA Dickerson's.
hope this helps,

Hello. I am a direct descendant of Susannah Surratt via her husband, Henry Dickerson. I am wondering if there are any portraits of her which ever made their way into historical documents or museums. I would just like to see what she looked like.
Christine Bartley [email protected] Thanks very much.
Christine,
Thanks for the E-Mail!

Hello,
I found your posting on Ancestry World Tree regarding Benjamin BROWNING b. ca. 1792 Montgomery Co., MD. and his wife Deborah WARFIELD BROWNING. There seems to be some discrepancy regarding their daughter, Minerva Ann BROWNING.
Others seem to think she was the daughter of Perry BROWNING and his wife Elizabeth KING BROWNING. I believe there might have been a connection with ggggrandmother, Susan Rebecca BROWNING, b. 1829 Montgomery Co/Frederick Co., MD. and Minerva Ann BROWNING, but I cannot find any documentation to prove who the parents of Minerva Ann were. It appears you got some of your information from a Susan Dickerson and you provided her e-mail address, however that was as of 1998 and evidently is no longer current. Do you know anything concrete about Minerva Ann BROWNING or have a current e-mail address for Susan Dickerson?
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Carolyn, Thanks for the E-Mail
