Submitter: Mona Sarratt Knight | SARRATT, Lucie Date: Mon, 6 Mar 2000 10:40:51 PM Eastern Standard Time Source: GC-Anne Arundel County Md. Query Forum, URL: Message # 1168 Seek anyone with information about the SURRATT family in Ann Arundel Co. about 1700 through 1880. Someone searching with a metal detector at the Naval Academy Dairy farm found half of a religious medal (Catholic?) for Lucie Surratt, probably an early ancestor of mine. The back of the medal reads "Christian Doctrine." Should the entire medal say "Confraternity of Christian Doctrine?" Were these used during baptisms, catechisms, etc? The Surratt family came from France very early (about 1700's) and settled in Maryland and later Virginia, then many moved to North Carolina, and up into Illinois about the time of the Civil War. If anyone has info on the SURRATT family in Ann Arundel Co., I would love to hear from you. Please e-mail me directly at: [email protected]. Thank you. Sorry, Mona This is not enough info. to find her in the SFA database. ..prs | |||||||||||

A medal has been found, cut in half, with the name Lucy Surratt. It is a Catholic Medal - as given in confirmations. From what I have been told, the medal was found near Annapolis, Md. and embedded in farm soil. Would love to hear from you! They were always so closely connected in the 1700's and then to find them living so close to each other in Penna in the 1800's! Fascinating! Just wondered if you saw this connection. Sincerely, Judy Hazlett Starsinic E-Mail: [email protected] PS: I notice you live in Auburn. I just moved to Sacramento - Antelope area. Yes SUSANNA SARRATT, c1700-1734 a34y m.
