Seek anyone with information about the SURRATT family in Ann Arundel Co. about 1700 through 1880. Someone searching with a metal detector at the Naval Academy Dairy farm found half of a religious medal (Catholic?) for Lucie Surratt, probably an early ancestor of mine. The back of the medal reads "Christian Doctrine." Should the entire medal say "Confraternity of Christian Doctrine?" Were these used during baptisms, catechisms, etc? The Surratt family came from France very early (about 1700's) and settled in Maryland and later Virginia, then many moved to North Carolina, and up into Illinois about the time of the Civil War. If anyone has info on the SURRATT family in Ann Arundel Co., I would love to hear from you. Please e-mail me directly at: [email protected]. Thank you.
Sorry, Mona

Dear Paul,
Just wondering if you have run across a Lucy Surratt in your research. A medal has been found, cut in half, with the name Lucy Surratt. It is a Catholic Medal - as given in confirmations. From what I have been told, the medal was found near Annapolis, Md. and embedded in farm soil. Would love to hear from you! Sincerely, Judy Starsinic, E-Mail: [email protected]

Dear Paul, I have always been fascinated with the Surratts of Maryland and the Dickersons of Maryland moving to the Washington, Penna. area. They were always so closely connected in the 1700's and then to find them living so close to each other in Penna in the 1800's! Fascinating! Just wondered if you saw this connection. Sincerely, Judy Hazlett Starsinic E-Mail: [email protected]
PS: I notice you live in Auburn. I just moved to Sacramento - Antelope area.

SURRATT, Ella Key
September 5, 1896

Mary Jean,
Thanks for the look-up. I thought she was the Daughter of See: John H. Jr. SURRATT & Mary Victorine Key HINTER. Was hoping for a Grave site location.
Her parents are buried in the "New Cathedral Cemetery", Baltimore, MD but I could not fine Ella Key nor in the "Mount Olivet Cemetery" Washington, DC where her Grandmother Mrs. Mary E. (Jenkins) SURRATT is buried.
Also, I dont understand the 04 Sep 1896 date? Ella Key SURRATT, died a95y in Apr 1980, Baltimore, MD. (b. 30 Nov 1885, per SSD# 215-70-2896)

Dear Sir,
My grandfather was Claude Sarratt of Gaffney, SC (Cherokee County). DOB: 1920 Although I cant find him on your census page, I did find my uncle, Lt. Harry Sarratt, also of Gaffney.
Could you please tell me what the abbreviations on the list mean?
For example, what do Fed#, Reel, and Pg# refer to?
Is this microfilm? Where would the microfilm be located?
Thank you for your time, Patrick Myers, [email protected]
Patrick, Thanks for the E-Mail, Claude was not in the June 1920 Census, because he wasn't born until Dec. We believe your Grandfather is Claude H. SARRATT (1920-1994)

Hi,
I was looking through SC records and saw your request for surname Sarratt.
Do you know of a connection between John Brightwell of Prince George's Co. Md Will: 9 March 1766; 24 Nov 1774 and John Sarratt?
John Sarratt along with John Bowers and James Greenwood signed as witnesses. Thank you, Barbara, E-Mail: [email protected]
Thanks's for the E-Mail
Although, my SARRATT family was in Prince George's Co., MD. 1790 and before. I dont' have a John, until 1776.
The John SARRATT, that was a witnesses above would half to have been at legal age say 21 to 25 making him about b. c1749- c1753?
If he indeed is part of my SARRATT of Prince George's Co., MD. we have no record of him.
The Sarratt progenitor Joseph SARRAT (1665-1715)
had 3 known Children:
1. Dau: Susannah, 1700-1734 m. Henry DICKERSON
2. Son: Samuel, 1708-1775 m 1, Anna; 6Ch. 2) Honour, 2Ch.
3. Son: Joseph,2 1710-1772 m. Mary, 3Ch.
The Grandchildren have all been identified and no "John"
We will keep your info. on file regarding this John SARRATT ...prs
