SURRETT, Hester (DAVIS) Mrs. Dated: Mar 27, 1996 HIGH POINT - GUILFORD CO., NC, 277260 Mrs. Hester (Davis) Surrett, b. 04 Aug 1889, NC., d. age 103 years, formerly of 108 Marywood Drive, died March 2, 1993, at Wesleyan Arms Nursing Center. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hayworth Wesleyan Church, of which she was a charter member. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park. A native of Black Mountain, Buncombe Co., NC. she was retired from Harriss & Covington Hosiery Mill. Surviving are" daughter, Mrs. Betty (Surrett) Klass of Thomasville, Dare Co., NC.; son, Fred C. Surrett of High Point, Guilford Co., NC.; sisters, Mrs. Esta (Davis) Serber, Mrs. Grace (Davis) Chambers, both of Kannapolis, Cabarrus Co., NC.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at Cumby Funeral Home 7-8:30 tonight. Contributions may be made to Hayworth Wesleyan Church, 1696 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262. (Motsinger) Surratt, 75, of 1425 Cook St. died April 18, 1993, at Cloverdale Nursing Care in Kernersville. [Forsyth Co., NC.] Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Floral Garden Park. A native of High Point, she was a retired High Point Regional Hospital nursing assistant and a member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church. Surviving are daughter, Martha (Surratt) Welborn Bowsky of Davis, Calif.; sisters, Mrs. Meta Atkins of Kernersville, Mrs. Mattie Wells of High Point; brothers, David Motsinger of Colfax, Wesley Motsinger of High Point. Guilford Co., NC, John and James Sarratt, 1780 Date: January 13, 2005 at 18:59:38 Surratt Family Genealogy Forum: Message # 626 While researching my other family of MAJORS Family in Guilford Co., NC, I came across the following land entries: January 1, 1780, John SARRATT and Andrew Hall enter 400 acres in Guilford Co. on heads of Chestnut and Giles Creeks, waters of Haw River, bordered on west by Cunningham's deeded land and late entry of James SARRATT, and on north by late survey of John McKibbins and on east by Rev. James Campbell's survey. January 1, 1780, James SARRATT enters 100 acres in Guilford Co. on waters of Roses Creek, bordered on east side of his own deeded land and on south of Cunningham's deeded land; with no improvements. I'm not sure who this John and James Sarratt men are; however, my branch came out of Rowan and Davidson Co., NC, and Guilford was part of Rowan Co. before being split into it's own county. Mona Knight. Mona, Guilford Co., NC. was created in 1770 form the larger Orange & Rowan Co.'s, The County Seat is Greensboro, NC. 27402.
