It is believed that prior to 1774 ALLEN, 1 SARRATT, age 34 left
the "Bridgewater" Plantation, in Prince George's Co., MD.
to the then Rowan Co., NC. (now reformed into Davidson Co. in
1822) along with his father SAMUEL, 1 SARRATT
(See Minutes of Court of Pleas & Quarter Session 1774
 "Catts" episode...prs)

The first record we find in Rowan Co., NC. for ALLEN, 1 SARRATT,
age 38 is in the "Land Entry Book" where he bought
some 300 acres, from what looks like a land speculator.
(Land Entry Book, Rowan Co., NC., Item #1433, dated 27 Aug. 1778:)
   [REF: #90 pg34]
GORDON GONDER entered 300 acres of land lying on the main
branch of Beaverdam Creek and on the East side of Rich Mountain...
County of Rowan, State of North Carolina.

A note in the margin says "this tract was made over
to ALLEN, 1 SARRATT." Mr. GORDON GONDER appeared to be a
"Land Speculator", because he had several other entries
in the same Entry Book. [REF: #90 pg34]

A Survey was ordered 17 Nov. 1778, at the Court of Salisbury,
Rowan Co., NC. for 400 acres, but when completed on 20 May 1783
(5 years later?) the tract contained only 380 acres.
380 acres of land lying on the North side of Beaverdam
Creek near Davis' Creek and at the foot of Rich Mountain.
   [REF: #90 pg34]

In present day Davidson Co., NC. the Allegheny Church Road
bisects this early ALLEN, 1 SARRATT land Grant. This road
stretches from Highway 49 to Highway 8. (This Grant as well
as other SARRATT Grants in Davidson Co. are identifiable on a Map
prepared by BERT M. LANIER of Denton, Davidson Co., North
Carolina, and is on display in the Denton Library.) [REF: #90 pg34]

In August 1789, we find a record at the "Rowan Co. Court of
Pleas & Quarter Session" that ALLEN, 1 SARRATT, age 49 was
appointed the "Petit Jury". He probably made the long
trip into Salisbury on horseback to serve on the three cases
where his name is recorded as being on the Jury. [REF: #90 pg34]

In the 1790 Census, for the Salisbury District of Rowan Co., NC.
we find ALLEN SARRATT, age 50 and family, living next to his
brother 1.2.5 THOMAS SARRATT Family. No Slaves for either Family.
   (M-637, State Reel 7,)
   h/h ALLEN SERRAT, age 50 (16 Over)
KESIAH (SUCREE) age 50 (16 Over)
   1st. Son: JOHN, 4, age 25 (16 Over)
1st. Dau: SARAH, age 24 (Free White)
2nd. Dau: Unknown, age 23 (Free White)
3rd. Dau: RACHEL, age 19 (Free White)
   2nd. Son: WILLIAM, age 16 (Under 16)
   3rd. Son: Unknown, age 15 (Under 16)
   4th. Son: Unknown, age 14 (Under 16)
4th. Dau: KIZZY, age 13 (Free White)
   5th. Son: Unknown, age 10 (Under 16)

Some other "Land Deals" of ALLEN, 1 SARRATT are
confusing, at he seems to Sell more land than he has record of
ttle to, (380 acres Purchased, 680 acres Sold) but as with
all early records, they never seam complete so the confusion may
be due to that, or may be due to the fact that some of his titles
to property may have gone back to the pre-Revolutionary War days
and he neglected to re-register after the War, at any rate, his
ownership was not challenged.

In 1793, Rowan Co., NC. SAMUEL, 1 SARRATT, age 53 sold some 100
acres to JOHN JOHNSTON (His brother-in-law, married his wife
KESIAH'S sister).

In 1795, Rowan Co., NC. SAMUEL, 1 SARRATT, age 55 sold some 300
acres of his original 1778 Grant to ISAAC VINCENT (His wife
KESIAH (SUCREE) SARRATT, signed this Deed.)

In 1798, Rowan Co., NC. SAMUEL, 1 SARRATT, age 58 sold some 280
acres of land lying on the North side of Beaverdam Creek, to JOHN
TIPPET

In the 1800 Census, (M-32, State Reel 29) for Lincoln Co.,
NC., no record could be found, by this writer of ALLEN, 1
SARRATT and family.

Apparently some time between 1798 and 1800, ALLEN, 1 SARRATT, in
his late 50's decided to move again to Lincoln Co., NC. where his
brother-in-law's JOHN JOHNSTON Family already was residing. Their
is a Survey in 1801, Lincoln Co., NC. made for ALLEN, 1 SARRATT,
age 61 for 100 acres. [REF: #90 pg35]
100 acres of land lying on the waters of Mountain Creek,
   adjoining land of the:
   Widow NEWMANS,
   JAMES WILKINSONS, and
   JOHN JOHNSTON'S,
   Lincoln Co., North Carolina.

ALLEN, 1 SARRATT'S relations with the SUCREE/SECREE family is
made clear in a Will of SIMEON SUCREE which was Probated
in 1804, in Rowan Co., NC. wherein he left 20 Shillings to each
his son-in-laws JOHN JOHNSTON and ALLEN, 1 SARRATT. SIMEON
SUCREE'S other beneficiaries where his wife ELIZABETH (Unknown)
SUCREE who was to have his land bought from GEORGE VARNER, his
son WILLIAM SUCREE who was under 18, and his Grandson, HASTON
WARD, who was to have the land on which Wife ELIZABETH (Unknown)
SUCREE was living. (Rowan Co., NC. Will Book "D", pages 77 & 78)
[REF: #90 pg35]

In 1808, JOHN JOHNSTON and ALLEN, 1 SARRETT, age 68, both
designated as being residents of Lincoln Co., NC. sold 87 acres
to THOMAS JONES, Jr. of Rowan Co., NC.
87 acres of land lying on the fork of Beaverdam Creek,
Rowan Co., NC., and relinquishing all of their rights in the
   "Widows Dower"

It would appear their mother-in-law had died and they were disposing
of her property.

In [REF: #90 pg35] list she found ALLEN, SARRATT, age 70 was listed in
the 1810 Lincoln Co., Census. This writer could Not find a record
for ALLEN, 1 SARRATT, (M-252, State Reel 40) ALLEN, 1
SARRATT, must have died between 1810 and 1820 Census.
