resting place:

Anthony SARRATT wife Letitia (Ellis) SARRATT [REF: #155 pg4]
In the book [REF: #90 or #155] they do NOT make reference to
John,6 SARRATT's Will of 1854, nor the name of "2nd" wife
Mrs. Ellendor/Ellen (Unknown) SARRATT. Even though, she was "Listed" in the
W&T, living in the Household in 1850 Census, and living with
Step-Dau Emline/Emaly in the 1860 Census. ...prs |

with his parents in the 1790 Census, for Spartanburg Co., SC.

(10 to 16) and identified living with his parents.

At the age of 21 years, about 1806 John,6 SARRATT married the 24
year old JANE ELENDOR ELLIS. They are identified living on there own farm,
with two of their children, in Spartanburg Co., SC in the 1810 Census.

the John,6 SARRATT had remarried for the second
time to the 45 year old ELLENDOR (Unknown) b. 1795 and his children
had married and only 2nd son John B, SARRATT where living with the
family Unit, their was an Unidentified Female age 15 to 20.

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN! Know all men by these present that
I John SARRATT of the District and State aforesaid, being at this
time of sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding, but advancing
in age and infirmity, by which those blessings will necessarily cease.
For the purpose of adjusting and arranging my temporal concerns while
in possession of my mental powers. Do make and constitute the following
my last Will and Testament. ToWiz: Inpremes,
1st. I will and recommend my soul to the mercy
and acceptance of that GOD who gave it to me, and my body a decent
Christian burial, according to the discretion of my Executors.
2nd. I will and desire that all my just debts
and my funeral expenses be paid out of my effects.
3rd. I will and desire to my son John I. SARRATT
(one Negro boy named JORDAN, this boy is all I intend for him to
have out of my Estate either Real or Personal.
4th. I will and desire to my beloved wife,
ELEN SARRATT
one good feather bed and bedding, one years provision and
also one third of my lands during her natural life, then after her
death this part of the land left to her is to be equally divided among
my Children hereafter named in my Will.
5th. I will and desire that all my Estate both
Real and Personal, (except what is heretofore disposed of) be equally
divided among my heirs, that is my

the heirs of her body, and that my Executors act as their Guardians,
and hold the property in their own hands and administer it out to
them as necessity may require during LOUISA A. (SARRATT) MORGAN'S
life, then what ever property there is on hand at her death to be
equally divided among her children when they become of age.
[Meaning John MORGAN, was married 1st to Wife Unknown and
had Children, Louisa A. was his "2nd" wife and had Children
"Heirs" of John,6, not the children of the 1st Wife. ..prs]
7th. It is my will that my Executors divide all
my property both Real and Personal into lots and draw for them.
Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint
IRVIN SARRATT and J.R. ELLIS Executors to this my last Will and
Testament, hereby revoking and making void all other Wills by me at
any other time made, and do declare this my last Will and Testament
in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th
day of April, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty.

April of 1850, he died some five years later on the 13th of Sep. 1854.
It is apparent that his youngest son John B. SARRATT, was NOT in
good graces with his father. He left his estate & personal property
to be divided equally among his 2nd wife and his children, except
John B. SARRATT. ..prs

of the Will. One of the Witness GREEN B. SARRATT, age 47 was John,
6 SARRATT, Nephew, Son of Brother SAMUEL, 7 & PEGGY (QUINN) SARRATT.
On 12 Jan. 1855, the Application to Prove Will was filed by
Son-In-Law J.R. ELLIS and 1st Son IRVIN SARRATT, age 40 in
some type of dispute over 2nd Son John I. SARRATT, age 37

of Law. GREEN B. SARRATT and of the subscribing Witness, Sworn to
that he saw the written named John SARRATT signed and acknowledges
the written instrument of writing to be his last Will and Testament,
and he also saw Wm. W. TORRENCE and Wife SARAH A. TORRENCE
witness themself of signing their names in present of Tester as witness
to the names and that the legal heirs of the said John SARRATT,
Tester as aforesaid at the time he Executed the written paper as the
Last Will and Testament, to be of sound mind and disposing memory
fully competent, to adjudge the true value of property and dispose
of property by contract Will or otherwise. And Wm. W. TORRENCE and
SARAH A. TORRENCE, the wife of Wm. W. TORRENCE the other
subscribing Witness to the written Will resides at the time in the
State of North Carolina and that the signatures as appears on the
written Will is in their own hand writing. Sworn to and Subscribes
this the 12th January, 1855, before me.
