South Carolina State Lunatic Asylum, June 1929

In December 20, 1821, the South Carolina State Legislature passed a statute-at-large approving $30,000 to build the "SC. Lunatic Asylum" and school for the deaf and dumb. Today it is called "SC. Dept. of Mental Health (SC-DMH), 2100 Bull St, Columbia, SC - (803) 898-2038 In June 1929, James B. CROCKER, age 62yrs was institutionalized at the South Carolina State (Lunatic Asylum) Hosptial, at Columbia, Richmand Co., SC. He will remain their untill his Death in 1943, some 14 years.
