My father was Wiley Edward Surratt and 07 Oct 1922 - 00 Aug 1964 WA my grandfather was William P. Surratt and my grandmother was Cynthia L. Wilcox. All are deceased. My mother has a family bible that traces the Surratt line from my grandfather back. If you would be interested, I can try and get the information for your records. There are 5 childred of Wiley E. State of birth is Idaho (per same source). Other information that I have for her is marriage in Walla Walla County, Washington state -- 17 July 1893 (per LDS File #2078021) My Aunt (her grand-daughter) has related the following story: Minnie Surratt was a 'southern belle' who was betrothed to an heir of the Alberson's (animal feed) Feed Company. She fell in love with a cowboy, went with him and married him. She was disowned by her [SURRATT] family and never was in touch with them again. She bore eight children to Edward West. The children were born in Wyoming(?), Washington state, and California. I do not have her date nor place of death, but it is supposedly in California possibly before 1940. Until just a few years ago, my mother was unsuccessful at obtaining her birth certificate. When one was finally located she learned that her father was named Luther Sarret, [b. 1905] listed as age 27 at the time, and listed as being from Virginia. His occupation is listed as "soldier". My mother's first and middle name is Shirley Laverne. Her mother's name is Mae Marie Talbert. Her mother later married a man with the surname of McClain. That is the name my mother went by, but it is not her father. We would like to know our true heritage. Help us if you can, please. My mother's birthdate is May 8, 1932. My GGrandmother was Thursa Avangeline Surratt with a sister named Hannah A. Surratt Thursa married Andrew Waugh (1849 - 1934) from Waugh's Mill, W.Virginia. I know that they lived for a time, early 1900's in Ness City, Kansas moving in about 1907 to Grandview, Washington where they both are buried.
