I suspect that my Surratt ancestors came to Surry County, NC. and Carroll County, VA from Rowan County, NC, but I haven't found positive proof. I am trying to finish an outline of the descendents of Isham (pronounced 'I-some', I think) which I hope can eventually become a history. I would like to exchange information with any other Surratt/Sarrett, etc., researchers.
We have two Isham/Isom SURRATT in Carroll Co., VA.
1. Isham SURRATT, b. 05 Apr 1840 - d. 01 Jan 1921 m. Eva Susan MARSHALL,
2. Isham W. SURRATT, b. 05 Dec 1874 - d. 31 Dec 1968 m. Margaret G. SEXTON

My father is James Hardee. His father is Issac Temple Hardee. Is father is John Vincent Hardee. John's wife is Marinda Jane Surratt. John married Marinda in Carroll County VA on February 3, 1860. She is 20 years old. Her parents are Isum W. and Elizabeth Surratt. Family history has always held that the Surratt's were French blue bloods. The Hardee's are also French. Believed to be French protestants that came over in early 1600's.
