The remains have been brought to Johnstown for serv.s tomorrow. PETER THOMAS, 69, WELL KNOWN HERE, DIES MI. Had Been Detroit for Past yr; Remains Brought to Johnstown Peter Thomas, 69, a well-kwn resident of Johnstown for many yrs, d yesterday Detroit, MI, where he had been residing for the past yr. He passed away at the home of a dau., Mrs. James McCauley, with whom he had been making his home since going to the MI city. The deceased had been affiliated with the Swank Hardware Co. here for nearly 25 yrs & gained a wide acquaintance during his serv. with that co. He was forced to retire from active work 1938 because of ill health. The remains were shipped to Johnstown this morn & have been taken to the home of a bro., {*ERROR - Ralph was his SON} Ralph Thomas of Riverside. Tomorrow the body will be removed to the Moxham Ev. Ch. 1 pm & will lie state until 2 when serv.s will be conducted by Rev. C. W. Winch, pastor. Bur. Blough Mennonite Cem., Hollsopple, directed by John Henderson Co. Somerset NATIVE Mr. Thomas b near Jerome, Somerset, Dec 6 1871. As a young man he moved to Johnstown & secured employment on the farm of the late Daniel Kaufman, located what is now Lorain Boro. He later entered the employ of the H. m Heinze & Co. store Moxham & remained with that concern for abt 10 yrs. 1914 he secured a position with the Swank Hardware Co. & remained with the downtown firm until his retirement 2 yrs ago. He & Ms Mary Allison m here Dec 22 1892. survived by Mrs. Thomas & chldn: Mrs. James McCauley, at whose home he d.; Mrs. Edith Hammer, Pittsburgh, & Ralph Thomas, Riverside, mentioned above. Another son, Allison Thomas, d Sep 12 1937. bro. of William Thomas, Davidsville; Mrs. Julia Yoder, Belleville, Mifflin Co.; Henry Thomas, Riverside; Nathan, John & Ephraim Thomas, all Davidsville, & Mrs. Ellen Barnett, Schelocta. The following item appeared in the same paper: VICTIM IDENTIFIED: A postive identification has been made of another flood victim. Deputy Coroner John Barron said a body that was found on July 24 has been identified as that of Elvie Bowser, 68, 879 Cooper Ave. X-RAYS COMPARED The identification was made by Dr. Synden Goldblatt & Dr. Lawrence F. Casale, who compared X-rays of the woman's foot with X-rays made earlier when she had broken her foot. With the identification of the woman there remains only 1 other body still unidentified. The deputy Coroner described the body as that of a male, 38 - 50 yrs of age, approximately 6 ft tall & weighing 180 lb. He had receeding reddish-brown hair & his teeth were worn away nearly to the gum line.

When a child she removed with her parents to Smithfield, WV, & later to Stanton's Mill, where she has since resided. The deceased had been a widow for over 25 yrs. She was the mother of 11 chldn, 6 of whom are living, namely: David, Jenners; Jacob H., Stoyestown; John J., Stanton's Mill; Hattie, w/o Samuel T. Berkey; Lydia, w/o Frank N. Kantner, Somerset; & Susan, w/o Dr. J.H. Gardner, Stoyestown. 18 gchldn & 2 ggchldn. Mrs. Horner had been a consistent memb. German Bapt. Ch. for more than 30 yrs.
