She was cared for by her nephew, Marcellus Snyder, Upper Turkeyfoot twp.

[NI116347] Copied from "The History of Bedford, Somerset & Fulton Co.s, PA -- 1884" Early Pioneers More than a 100 yrs before the present date (1883), James Wilson executed a cabin on a tract of land abt 2 1/2 miles east of the present town of Rockwood. Quite probably he was the 1st permanent settler in the twp. Wilson had a sawmill on his farm, which was the 1st manufactory in the twp. Other early settlers were: Peter Bowlin, George Enos, U. N. Nicholson, Jacob Snyder, Jacob Weimer, William Critchfield, John Dull, Frederick Weimer; Francis Phillippi, & others. The 1st twp election was held at. the home of John Shaff. Jacob D. Snyder, a native of this state, was b 1790, & settled in Milford twp in 1821. He d 1865. The names of his children are Daniel, Dewalt, Levi, Peter, Lydia & Susan. The sons are among the prominent & enterprising farmers of Milford. According to the early works of Miles J. Snyder, Jacob & wife Elizabeth Fritz lived between Somerset & Mechanicsburg "back of Berlin". Had their family in Black Twp. Jacob & Elizabeth's marriage is recorded in the E.C. Saylor Book of records of the Luth Ch. records, Berlin, Somerset Co., PA. Jacob Cribler was the Pastor. CHRISTENING: From the bible transcripts done by Minnie Snyder in the 1920's it is learned that Jacobs baptismal wittnesses were his uncle Jacob Fetter & Catheran Huber. They gave him the name Jacob. The transcripts do not mention what his middle name was but later on in the bible notes it states that Jacob Peter Snyder was wittness to the birth of one of Michaels chldn so I am lead to believe that although most documentation lists him as Jacob D. that he might really have been Jacob P. unless of course this Jacob Peter was a bro. to Dewalt. Family lore has it although not proven that Dewalt may have come to this country with both his parents & 3 brothers. If one bro. was Michael as is seemingly indicated in the bible notes then it would make sence that one could have been Jacob Peter. This will remain one of those unsolved misteries untill such time that someone comes up with some sort of documented proof one way or the other.
