[NI160587] When father d, John lived until of age in Bedford Twp with Michael FETTER family, whom he learned farming to which he devoted a large part of his live.Daniel C. Dibert, a well-known farmer & one of the older residents of Bedford, Bedford Co, Pa., is a self-made man; that is, one who has achieved success in life by his own industry, thrift, & steadfastness of purpose. A native of this Twp, born on August 3, 1820, son of John & Barbara Dibert, he is of German ancestry. The first title to land now owned by him was held by his paternal grandfather, John Dibert, Sr.....Daniel C. Dibert was deprived of a father's care & guidance when a little fellow of eight years. From that time until of age he lived in Bedford Twp in the family of Michael Fetter, under whose instruction he obtained a practical knowledge of farming, to which he has since devoted the larger part of his time & energies. His facilities for acquiring an education were meagre as compared with those available to all at the present day, but he made the most of such as were afforded by the subscription schools of his neighborhood. After working several years as a farm hand, Mr. Dibert inherited the homestead estate, in the northern part of the Twp, on which he & his capable helpmate have spent the larger portion of their wedded life. By years of diligent labor & wise management, he has developed & improved a valuable farm. A man of good business ability, honest & upright in his dealings, he is held in high esteem as a citizen, & has the respect & confidence of the community. In politics he is a sound Democrat. In April, 1852, Mr. Dibert m Maria Carrell.....Mr. & Mrs. Dibert are both connected by membership with the Lutheran church.

[NI160858] This is the Jacob Dibert that had the dream of the Lost Chdn of the Alleghenies & with his bro-in-law, Harrison Wysong, found them. He was killed in the Civil War. Sarah then m John Gardner. "Lost Children of the Alleghenies" by Ned Frear. Brief: 2 little boys, whose last name was Cox, got lost in the woods one dy. Neighbors & others searched for wks to no avail. Jacob heard abt all this while the searching was still on & proceeded to have the same dream 3 nights in a row abt the boys & their location. He dreamt he was walking in the woods & came across a dead buck. Walking a little further he came to a creek with a small log across it. At the other end was the left shoe of younger of the 2 boys. Up & over the hill from there was a great tree, its roots above ground in a semi-circle. The 2 boys lay within the roots asleep. Then Jacob would wake up. He finally told Sarah & she made him take her bro along since he knew the area better. Sure enough, both men found everything in Jacob's dream. Unfortunately, the boys had past on from exposure. There is a monument in Pavia (where this occurred) to Jacob with a fence around it. Jacob d during Civil War in a prison camp from chronic diarrhea.
