To this union was b 1 son Amos Nusbaum. In 1869 her husb was stricken with typhoid fever. Following her husb's death she lived with her parents until Jun 1873, when she m John Nusbaum, a halfbro to her 1st husb & deacon in Menn Ch. To this union were b 5 chdn: Emma, Daniel, Wiley, Frank, & Newton of whom 3 survive, & 2 sons preceded their mother. She was also mother to 7 stepchildren: Joseph, John, David, Levi, Martha, Hannah, & Mary of whom 4 survive, besides her son Amos. In 1900 she was again bereft of her husb. From this time until her death she made her home with her son Frank, Middlebury, IN. Surviving are her 35 gchdn, 60 ggchdn, & 4 gggchdn. She was last of a family of 4 to d. Her bro John J Miller, preceded her by 10d, at age 91y. She is also survived by a sis-in-law Lizzie w/o late John J Miller. Funeral Clinton Brick Ch of which she was memb. Services in charge of John Garber & O S Hostetler.

[NI191466] Jan 1 1901 Herald of Truth Vol XXXVIII # 1 pg 14, 15. Dea John Nusaum d Nov 28 1900 at his home 2 1/2 mis south & 3/4 mi east of Middlebury, Elkhart Co, IN where he lived since Apr 1873. When a boy he moved with his father from Ashland Co, OH to Richland Co, OH, his mother having d a short time before. While living in this co, he m Elizabeth Freed & autumn 1860 they moved with his father to IN 3 & 1/2 mi southeast of Middlebury. Here he lived abt 3y cleared abt 20 acs of small timbered land, built a barn which still stands. In spring 1864, he moved to LaGrange Co, IN on a farm of several acs where in addition to farming, he successfully operated for 12y or more a threshing machine in company with H C Prough. In summer 1869 his family passed through a siege of typhoid fever in which 7 were sick, 2 & 3 at a time & from which his wife never fully recovered. In Feb 1873 his wife after a long & patient d; a dau only 2ys old preceded her abt 3 wks. Thus left with 7 chdn he moved in Apr to Elkhart co on farm where he lived until he d. He built on this farm a house & a lg bank barn which stand to this day as monuments of his industry. Abt 20y ago he was ordained a deacon in the duties of which office he was very conscientious & faithful to the last. He leaves a widow who has been a model stepmother & a devoted wife. He also leaves 4 sons & 3 daus of 1st union & 1 dau & 3 sons of 2nd to mourn their loss. He lived to be nearly 68y.

She m on 25 Nov 1852, Richland co, OH & moved with her husb from there to IN in 1860. She was mother of 10 chdn, 3 of whom d before her. Funeral by J J Weaver, H A Miller & J F Funk.

[NI191483] Herald of Truth Vol X # 3 Mar 1873 pg 61, 63. Feb 6, d at his residence, Richland co, OH Pre JOSEPH FREED aged abt 65y. Bur Sun the 9th was lgly attended. On day previous to his death, he was in his usual health, with the exception of a severe cold; he was able, to do his usual amount of labor abt house, such as chopping wood & carrying it into house. He ate hearty supper, went to bed as usual after which his wife brought him a cup of tea, which he drank & upon lying down, she asked him whether he thought he could now sleep; to which he replied, "Oh yes." She then left him a short time, when upon retiring she thought he was resting so well that she would not disturb him, & so she went quietly to bed & fell asleep. In the morning she again arose quietly so as not to awake him, for she thought he was still resting well. She went to the kitchen & when breakfast was ready she returned to his room to call him, when she noticed one of his feet uncovered, & upon touching it she exclaimed, "Oh Pap, how cold your foot is," & in trying to cover it she found that it was not only cold but stiff. On going to his head she found that he was dead. At his death 10 chdn were living, but 1d after his death, his dau sis Nusbaum, Lagrange Co, IN, also d. Thus a loving wife & 9 chdn.

On Mar 20 1892 he m Fannie Johns who d Dec 22 1941. Surviving are 1 son William, 1 dau Stella Mrs Owen Thomas, 15 gchdn, 38 ggchdn, & 10 gggchdn. Was last surviving memb of a family of 8 bros & 2 sis'. On Mar 18 1900 he was ordained minister, & 3y later on May 23 1903, to the office of bishop. For 55y he serv as minister & bishop at Thomas Ch, & as bishop for Johnstown dist Chs till 1935. He also serv as bish in different congregations of Allegheny Conference: Schellsburg, Rockton, Altoona, & Mill Run. Since 1950 he was sr bish of Menn Ch in US & Canada. Funeral at Thomas Ch Jul 17 in charge of Aldus J Wingard, Sem K Eash, & Harry C Blough.

She was memb Menn Ch but over a yr ago she united with Wesleyan Meth Ch, Clarksville. She suffered from ill health for many years. She passed away Mar 9 1925 aged 49y 11m 5d. His 2nd wife was Catherine Saylor; to this union b 12 chdn; no chdn b to either 1st or 3rd m. He is survived by a wife, 3 chdn 18 gchdn, 26 ggchdn & 1 gggchd. In early life he united with Menn Ch & remained faithful to end. At time of his death he was oldest memb of Ch in Casselman Valley dist, both in age & in length of membership. Funeral German Bapt Ch in Meyersdale on Nov. 25, conducted by D. H. Bender of Elkhart, Ind., assisted by G. D. Miller of Springs, Pa., & C. G. Lint of German Bapt Ch. Bur Meyersdale Union Cem.

Jacob & Sister Rachel Otto of Springs, Pa., quietly passed away after suffering a few hrs of congestion of lungs, aged 5y 5m 9d. She was seemingly in good health in morn & at 2 o'clock in afternoon she was a corpse. She leaves father, mother & 2 bros. Funeral held Jan. 21. Sermon by Bro. D.H. Bender.
