* [Jacob] Tharp 1 was born 2, 3, 4 about 1800 in PA. He died 5 [bef 1850]. * married 6 * [Elizabeth] [w/o Jacob Tharp] [Abt 1823] in Bracken co, KY.

* [Elizabeth] [w/o Jacob Tharp] 1 was born 2, 3, 4, 5 about 1806 in KY. She died unknown. * married 6 * [Jacob] Tharp [Abt 1823] in Bracken co, KY.

Juanita's infomation shows Elizabeth as Orville's mother. If the source for this came from the 1850 census of Jackson Twp, Miami co, IN; this could be incorrect. Jacob Tharp is shown as HH; however; Jacob is only 30 yrs of age; perhaps Orville's brother. After Jacob's name, on this 1850 census, is Eliza. Her age is given as 44, birth place as Kentucky. She could be the mother of the children in this hh, a very young mother if she were Jacob's mother. However, there is a marriage recorded in Delaware co, IN; 3 Feb 1848, for Jacob Tharp and Eliza Burrows. Also included in this Tharp hh of 1850, is Milton Burouss, age 15 and apparantly, his sister Elizabeth, age 13. (Orville's wife is later shown to be Sarah Elizabeth Burress) So this Eliza might be the mother of Milton Burouss and Elizabeth;
Not knowing if this is where the names, Elizabeth & Jacob, came from as the parents of Orville, I will leave them as such while I continue searching.

On a personal visit to the court house in Peru, Miami county, Indiana I found a divorce record, dated 25 March 1857, for Jacob Tharp - plantiff and Eliza Ann Tharp - defendant. Eliza Ann did not appear in court and the divorce was declared "null and void, reason not stated in this record.

My maternal Great-Great Grandmother.

See source notes for [Elizabeth] [w/o Jacob Tharp] and Orville Tharp.

Orville and Sarah Elizabeth (Burress) Tharp were first married in 1853 Miami co, IN, divorced in 1874 Miami co, IN and again married in 1881 Kingman co, KS and again divorced in 1887-88 Kingman co, KS; Although the 1900 census for Reno co, Kansas shows Orville Tharp as a widower, I wonder if Sarah Elizabeth was still living and returned to Indiana.
In the Converse Cemetery, which is actually located in Grant co, IN, right next to Jackson Township, Miami co, IN (where Orville & Elizabeth were living when the 1850 & 1860 census were taken) there is a grave for Elizabeth Tharp (1831 - 1911); I'm wondering if this could be Sarah Elizabeth (Burress) Tharp, my gr gr grandmother.

Richard Douglas "Doug" Mitchell [Parents] 1, 2, 3 was born 4, 5, 6 on 3 Mar 1864 in Putnam co, IA (now a part of MO). Dorthy Fowler has noted that Richard Douglas' residence was McClurg, Taney county, MO;
She adds that according to Richard Douglas' oldest son, his father was born in Putnam county, Iowa; "although, some said he was born in Greene county, MO or Kansas.";
In her report, Dorothy Fowler list Richard's occupation as, farmer; his religion as, Baptist.

Adam C. Ewing 1, 2 was born 3 on 17 Dec 1841. He died 4 on 23 Jan 1913 and was buried 5 in Hopewell Cem; Greene co, MO. Adam married Martha Ann Martin.

Report by Dorothy Fowler has Adam C. Ewing as father of Jane Elizabeth Ewing; it is speculation that I have added the Adam C. Ewing found on the Hopewell Cemetery listings as the same Adam Ewing; the listing has only the name "Adam Ewing"; however, the headstone photo shows the middle initial "C". The dates and location fit -- if anyone can confirm or correct this -- I would be happy to hear from you.

My maternal Great-Great Grandfather.

Mike Stone states that Napolean was in Clarke county, MO in 1850, married to an Elizabeth Slaughter; I believe this was a different Napolean Mitchell.
He futher states that by 1860, Napolean was in Springfield, MO, married to his second wife, Elizabeth Cave and having several children.

1860 Federal Census for MO shows Napolean Mitchell in Linden Twp, Christian county, MO.

"Napolean is buried in a little country cemetery in Taney county, MO between the country stores of McClurg and Brownbranch. He only has a field stone with N.P.Mitchell on it but my Grandmother, Susan, who is 87 yrs, says the stone is Napolean and that he is among the very 1st buried there."
(from Dorthy Fowler)
Dorothy also writes; "A family member said that Napolean Mitchell family went to Iowa during the Civil War to get out of the line of battle. This would account for R. Douglas being born in Iowa in 1864. Richard Douglas Mitchell related this story to a great nephew and he told me."

From the list of names in the bible of Wilma Hutchins grandparents, "Roby" is the only one not accounted for and Napolean is not shown; possibly "Roby" was a nickname for Napolean;
also, possibly referred to as "Poley".

*Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Cave [Parents] 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 was born 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 on 16 Dec 1836 in Roane co, TN.
