Benjamin Franklin Potter 1, 2, 3 was born 4, 5, 6 on 17 May 1788 in Surry co, TN or VA. He died 7 on 6 Sep 1863 in near Lone Jack, Jackson co, MO from murdered during Civil War by KS troops. and was buried 8 in near Lone Jack, Jackson co, MO. Benjamin married Mary "Polly" Hays.

Benjamin Potter served in the war of 1812; according to the book, "Order Number 11" written by Joanne Chiles Eakin, he" never asked for land or pension " for this service;
The book also states that his 11 children were born in Indiana; after the death of his wife, about 1853, he moved to Jackson county, Missouri, along with seven of his children.
And it tells of his murder, at the age of 75, in Jackson county, Missouri, along with his son-in-law and four other men who were his friends and neighbors. Union troops from the Kansas 9th regiment, under the command of Captain C.F. Coleman, murdered them for being known southern sympathizers.
It is written that "the soldiers were reluctant to kill Mr. Potter, but a youth volunteered for the deed."
