     Margaret J Compton was born on 22 August 1856, Oregon.4,5,6,7,2 She was the daughter of James W. Compton and Melinda Sumpter.2,3
     Margaret J Compton appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Lebanon, Linn, Oregon in the household of her parents, James W. Compton and Melinda Compton.8
     Margaret J Compton appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Scio, Linn, Oregon, in the household of her parents, James W. Compton and Melinda Compton.9
     Margaret married Erastus Ashbury Bishop, son of Hiram Smith Bishop and Nancy Catherine Lent, on 5 April 1875 in Linn County, Oregon.1,7,10,11
     Margaret J Bishop and Erastus Ashbury Bishop appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Lebanon, Linn, Oregon, enumerated 5 June 1880 reporting Erastus as a farmer. Their children James Arthur and Henry were listed as living with them.12
     Margaret J Bishop and Erastus Ashbury Bishop appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Wallowa, Wallowa, Oregon, enumerated 23 June 1900, reporting Erastus as a farmer renting property. Their children John Larkin, William, Rosa, Roy Elmer, Orange Ray, Floyd and Florence were listed as living with them.13
     Margaret J Bishop and Erastus Ashbury Bishop appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Wallowa, Wallowa, Oregon, at Donald Street, enumerated 15 April 1910, reporting Erastus working as a Saw miller who owns his house free and clear Their children Orange Ray, Floyd and Florence were listed as living with them.14
     Margaret J Bishop and Erastus Ashbury Bishop appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Los Molinos, Tehema, California, enumerated 8 March 1920, reporting Erastus as a farmer owning land and living next door to son, Orange.15
     Erastus Ashbury Bishop and Margaret J Bishop appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Los Molinos, Tehema, California, at Dry Creek Loop, enumerated 2 April 1930.16
     Margaret J Bishop became a widow and supplied the information on the death certificate of Erastus Ashbury Bishop who died on 21 June 1932. At the time of Erastus's death they were living in Los Molinos California.11
     On 10 September 1951, Margaret J Bishop was living at 1261 Riverside Drive, in Susanville, Lassen, California, when she died at the age of 95. The information on the death certificate being supplied by Florence Bishop Wilson, her daughter.17,2
     Margaret was buried on Wednesday, 12 September 1951 in the Oak Hill Cemetery, located in Red Bluff, Tehama County, California . Photo of tombstone can be found at Find a Grave.2,18
