     Daniel Conrad was born on 20 August 1804 in Genoa, Cayuga, New York, The 1865 New York Census states the county of birth as Tompkins County. In 1804 Cayuga County was Tompkins County.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Johannes "John" Conrad and Catherine Foote. Daniel, Johannes Conrad's second son, settled on 100 acres of the original 320 acres located in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York.5,6 Daniel Conrad, William Hawley, Johannes "John" Conrad, Joseph Conrad, Jacob Linderman and Elisha Terry were considered pioneers in Ischua, Cattaraugus, New York; the area was still known as Hillsdale.7
In 1827, Daniel Conrad and William Hawley were found on the list of Jurors in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York. Also included on the list were John Conrad, Johan Peter Frantz and Jacob Linderman.8
     On 21 January 1827, Daniel Conrad married Mary Ann Hawley, daughter of William Hawley and Philura (Unknown), in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus County, New York.1,2,6
     Daniel Conrad, 25 years old, was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 U.S. Federal Census enumerated in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York. Based on ages, it is possible the following were also living in the household, George Peter Conrad, a white male, age newborn to 4 years old, Deziah Conrad, a white female, age newborn to 4 years old, Mary Ann Conrad, a white female, age twenty to twenty-nine years old.9 On the census of 1830 in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York, Daniel was living near William Hawley.10 On 23 June 1832 in Cattaraugus County, New York, Daniel Conrad was a witness for the Prosecution in the case against William Hawley, his father-in-law. The complaint is for Malpractice as a Justice of the Peace. The complaint was Dismissed..11
     Daniel Conrad appeared on the census of 1835 in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York, with 43 acres of improved land. Listed in the household is a total of 3 males and 3 females: Daniel age 31, George age 8, William age 5. The females were Mary Ann age 27, Deziah age 7, Mary Philura age 3.
Of the 3 males there was: 1 male subject to military duty (Daniel), 1 male eligible to vote (Daniel). Of the 3 females there was: 1 married female under 45 yrs (Mary Ann) and 2 unmarried females under 16 yrs (Deziah and Mary Philura).
     Living near Daniel were Thomas Wheellock (probably Whitlock), Nicholas Linderman, Caleb Barber, Jacob Linderman, Jas. Conrad, Thaddius Farwell, Andrew Raub and William Hawley (Father-in-law).12
     Daniel Conrad, 35 years old, was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 U.S. Federal Census enumerated in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York. Based on ages, it is possible the following were also living in the household, Ferdinand Conrad, a white male, age newborn to 4 years old, William Hawley Conrad, a white male, age five to nine years old, George Peter Conrad, a white male, age ten to fourteen years old, Isabel Conrad, a white female, age newborn to 4 years old, Mary Philura Conrad, a white female, age five to nine years old, Deziah Conrad, a white female, age fifteen to nineteen years old, Mary Ann Conrad, a white female, age thirty to thirty-nine years old Living near Daniel was Nicholas Linderman.13 On the census of 1840 in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York, Daniel was living near Thomas Whitlock.14 Daniel Conrad appeared on the census of 1845 in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York.15
     Daniel Conrad and Mary Ann Conrad appeared on the 1850 Federal Census Rice, Cattaraugus, New York, enumerated 20 October 1850. Their children George Peter, Deziah, William Hawley, Mary Philura, Ferdinand, Isabel, John Collins, Benjamin Melvin, Daniel Demetrius and Sylvia Liza were listed as living with them, living near is Thomas and Jane Whitlock.2
     Daniel Conrad and Mary Ann Conrad appeared on the 1855 State Census Ischua, Cattaraugus, New York, enumerated June 1855, reporting the family was living in a framed house and owns land. Their children William Hawley, Mary Philura, Ferdinand, John Collins, Benjamin Melvin, Daniel Demetrius and Sylvia Liza were listed as living with them, living near is Mary's sister, Philura Taft and her husband Seymour.16,17
     Daniel Conrad and Mary Ann Conrad appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Ischua, Cattaraugus, New York, enumerated 20 October 1860. Their children Benjamin Melvin, Sylvia Liza and Cornelia Julia were listed as living with them, as well as John Hawley age 11 (is he related to Mary Ann?)18
     Daniel Conrad and Mary Ann Conrad appeared on the 1865 State Census of Ischua, Cattaraugus, New York, enumerated 21 June 1865. Their children Benjamin Melvin, Sylvia Liza and Cornelia Julia were listed as living with them.4,19 According to the census, Daniel's occupation was a farmer owning land.4
     Daniel Conrad died on 19 August 1865 in Rice, Cattaraugus, New York, at the age of 60.1
     Daniel was buried in Section 1, Lot 88, Grave 5 next to his wife Mary Ann., in the Hinsdale Cemetery, located in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus County, New York .20

     Daniel Demetrius Conrad was born on 30 April 1847 in Rice, Cattaraugus, New York.1,2 He was the son of Daniel Conrad and Mary Ann Hawley.

     Daniel Hibner Conrad was born on 25 August 1856, New York.2,3 He was the son of Henry Austin Conrad and Julia Parthena Hull.1

     Deziah Conrad was born on 22 December 1828 in Rice, Cattaraugus, New York.2,1 She was the daughter of Daniel Conrad and Mary Ann Hawley. Deziah Conrad never married.
     Deziah Conrad was probably included as a white female, age under 4, in Daniel Conrad's household on the 1830 Census enumerated in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York.3
     Deziah Conrad, was probably included as a white female, age fifteen to nineteen years old, in Daniel Conrad's household on the 1840 Census enumerated in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York.4
     Deziah Conrad appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Rice, Cattaraugus, New York in the household of her parents, Daniel Conrad and Mary Ann Conrad.1
