     John Foote was born in 1757 in England of German Descent.1,2 He was described as meduim height, strongly built and had blue eyes.3
     John lived in Holland with his mother and sister.2 John was a miller. His mother owned the grist mill. in Holland.2 He was put into service in the British Military when he was siezed by a British boat crew. John protested that he was not a native of that province, but they would not release him or allow him to say good-bye to his mother hurring him to the vessel. He was brought over to American and served the the British Army until the surrender of Burgoyne.2

John Foote began his military service in the Continental Congress on 17 October 1777 in Saratoga, Saratoga, New York, at the surrender of Burgoyne, he refused to be paroled or exchanged and joined the American forces in New York serving in Col. Robert Van Rensselaer's Regiment in which he served until peace was declared.4 John was engaged in a trucking business between 1780 and 1800 in New York City, New York County, New York.2
     Circa 1783, John Foote married Catherine Miller at Evangelical United Congregation in Lansing, Tompkins County, New York, Catherine was said to be of Mohawk Valley...1,5,3
     John Foote was listed as the head of a family on the 1800 census enumerated in Milton, Cayuga, New York. Based on ages, it is possible the following were also living in the household:, Philip Foote, Daniel Foote and Adam Foote, white males, age newborn to 10 years old,John Foote, a white male, age ten to sixteen years old, Esther Foote, Susannah Foote and Elizabeth Foote, white females, age ten to sixteen years of age, Catherine Foote and Catherine Foote, a white female, ages sixteen to twenty-six years of age.6
     After 1800, John and Catherine migrated to Genoa, Cayuga, New York. They settled in Indian Flats, after selling out his business and most of his household effects. At this time he had 8 children.2 John Foote and Catherine Millersponsored the baptism of Catherine Foote on 19 April 1804 in Dillman Bauer Home, Milton, Cayuga, New York; her parents.7 John Foote and Catherine Footesponsored the baptism of John Foote Conrad on 20 October 1811 in the School House, in Milton, Cayuga County, New York.8,7
     John Foote died in 1817 in Odessa Village, Tioga, New York.1

Land

300 acres, Odessa, Schuyler, New York, which he purchased for £300. The land was near Watkins' Glen.3

     Philip Foote was born on 4 October 1786 in New York City, New York County, New York.1 He was the son of John Foote and Catherine Miller.1
     Philip Foote married Barbara Jansen, daughter of Christopher Jansen, in.1
     Philip Foote was probably included as a white male, age under 10, in John Foote's household on the 1800 Census enumerated in Milton, Cayuga, New York.2
     Philip Foote died on 3 September 1858 in Ithaca, Tompkins, New York, at the age of 71.1

     Susannah Foote was born in 1796 in New York City, New York County, New York.2 She was the daughter of John Foote and Catherine Miller.1
     Susannah Foote, was probably included as a white female, age ten to sixteen years old, in John Foote's household on the 1800 Census enumerated in Milton, Cayuga, New York.3
     Susannah Foote was baptized on 1 November 1801 in Lansing, Cayuga, New York, in schoolhouse near Abraham Bloom, daughter of John Foote and Catherine Miller.1
