     Norman Hawley was born in September 1815 Cortland, New York.2,3,1 He was the son of William Hawley and Philura (Unknown).1
     Norman Hawley, was probably included as a white male, age ten to fourteen years old, in William Hawley's household on the 1830 Census enumerated in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York; also enumerated in the household is 1 unknown male under 5 years, 1 unknown male 10 to 14 years and 1 unknown females 20 to 29 years.4
     Before 1848, Norman Hawley married Elizabeth Ann "Betsey" Moyer in, date based on the birth of William..3,1,5
     Norman Hawley and Elizabeth Ann Hawley appeared on the 1850 Federal Census in Franklinville, Cattaraugus County, New York, enumerated 24 July 1850. Their children William and John were listed as living with them, as well as Norman's nephew, William Riley Terry.6
     Norman Hawley and Elizabeth Ann Hawley appeared on the 1855 State Census Franklinville, Cattaraugus, New York, enumerated 14 June 1855, reporting Norman as a farmer owning land and living in Franklinville for 12 years. Their children William, John, Olean and Viola were listed as living with them.3
     Norman Hawley and Elizabeth Ann Hawley appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Ischua, Cattaraugus, New York, enumerated 14 June 1860. Their children William, John, Olean, Viola, Loe and Melvin were listed as living with them.5

     Norman Hawley and Elizabeth Ann Hawley appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Winneconne, Winnebago, Wisconsin, enumerated 10 June 1880 Their children William, Melvin, Phidelis and Viola were listed as living with them, as well as her children, Jenney Ellis, Perley M. Ellis and Ida Anna Ellis The children are Viola's even though Viola is listed as married her surname is HAWLEY. Did the enumerator just assume that her name was HAWLEY? Did Camp Edward Ellis die?8
     Norman Hawley appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Omra Township, Winnebago, Wisconsin, in the household of Jacob Griswold and Olean Griswold, his daughter.2
     Norman Hawley died between 21 June 1900 and 1910 in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. 05 Oct 1904 death is a different Norman Hawley. Found a Norman Hawley in Winnebago County, Wisconsin.1,2

     Olean Hawley was born in April 1851 Cattaraugus, New York.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Norman Hawley and Elizabeth Ann "Betsey" Moyer.1
     Olean Hawley appeared on the 1855 State Census of in Franklinville, Cattaraugus County, New York in the household of her parents, Norman Hawley and Elizabeth Ann Hawley.3
     Olean Hawley appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Ischua, Cattaraugus, New York in the household of her parents, Norman Hawley and Elizabeth Ann Hawley.1
     Olean Hawley appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Irvington, Kossuth, Iowa, in the household of Elizabeth Ann "Betsey" Moyer.4
     Circa 1871, Olean Hawley married Jacob Griswold in Wisconsin.2

     On 31 October 1841, Philura Hawley married Seymour Taft, son of Benjamin E. Taft and Lucretia Mc Intyre, in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus County, New York, by the Rev. Mr. Bartlett..1,3,4
     Philura Taft and Seymour Taft appeared on the 1850 Federal Census Hinsdale, Cattaraugus, New York, enumerated 5 August 1850, reporting Seymour's occupation as a hooper.
