     Emilie Annie "Amalie Emma" Lanz was born on 12 October 1906.2 She was the daughter of George Henry Lanz and Mary Koenig.
     Emilie Annie "Amalie Emma" Lanz was baptized on 21 April 1907 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stony Hill, in Laird, Saskatchewan, Canada, daughter of George Henry Lanz and Mary Koenig.1
     On the 1911 Canadian Census, Laura, Emilie and Emma was listed as a daughter in the household of George and Mary Lanz. Also listed in the household was her brother Elmer and George.3
     Emilie Annie "Amalie Emma" Lanz died on 28 February 1918 in Laird, Saskatchewan, Canada, at the age of 11.2,4
     Emilie was buried on Sunday, 3 March 1918 in the Stony Hill Cemetery, located in Laird, Saskatchewan , Canada. Tombstone located Row C, grave 3.2,4

     Anna Barbara "Annie" Lanz was born on 21 October 1871 in North Easthope, Perth, Ontario,Canada.2,3,4 She was the daughter of Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Schick.
     Anna Barbara "Annie" Lanz appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Plymouth, Jefferson, Nebraska in the household of her parents, Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Lanz.2 Anna Barbara "Annie" Lanz, and Philip Lanz, Mary Elizabeth Lanz, George Henry Lanz, Conrad Lanz and Emillie Lanz appeared on the 2 April 1883 census in in School District No. 43, Jefferson County, Nebraska, in the household of Johannes "John" Lanz; The family is living on land described as Township 4, Section 19, NE portion.5
     Anna Barbara "Annie" Lanz died on 26 August 1883 in Plymouth, Jefferson, Nebraska, at the age of 11. The mortality schedule published in the Pioneer Trail states that Anna was born in Canada, her father was born in Hessen, her mother was born in Bavaria. Anna died from disease of lungs and they resided in the county for 6 years.6,7

     Johannes "John" Lanz was born on 28 August 1831, Hessen - Darmstadt, Germany.2,3 He immigrated to Wellesley, Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada, arriving circa 1847, from Germany. Family lore states that John came to Wellesley when he was 16.4
     Marriage banns for Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Schick were published between January 1855 and July 1855 in Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada.5
     Between January 1855 and July 1855, Johannes "John" Lanz married Catherina Schick, daughter of John Schick and Catherine Wolf, in Berlin, Waterloo County, Ontario. The marriage date is based on the birth of their daughter Katherine in April 1856 and the marriage bann. I have not yet determined if Catherine' parents are indeed John and Catherine Schick.5,6,7,8 Johannes was a joiner on 4 March 1858 in Philipsburg, Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada. A joiner is a skilled carpenter, capable of finer work than a plain carpenter. i.e. skilled in making joints for furniture-making.9
     Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Lanz appeared on the 1861 Canadian Census of North Easthope, Perth, Ontario, Canada, enumerated 14 January 1861. reporting Johannes's occupation as a farmer and the religion of the household as Lutheran. Their children Katharine and Henry were listed as living with them, as well as George Reinmiller and Henry Reinmiller.10
     Johannes "John" Lanz was found on the 1865 tax list in North Easthope, Perth County, Ontario, Canada.11
     Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Lanz appeared on the 1871 Canadian Census of North Easthope, Perth, Ontario, Canada, enumerated 3 April 1871, reporting the household religion as Lutheran and Johannes as a farmer. Their children John E, Philip, Mary Elizabeth and George Henry were listed as living with them. Living near the family is Conrad Reinwald and Heinrich Lanz.12
     Between August 1878 and September 1879, Johannes and Catherina left North Easthope, Perth County, Ontario, Canada and migrated to Plymouth, Jefferson, Nebraska. The dates are based on the marriage of their daughter Katherine to John Reinwald and Johnannes' appointment as the Church secretary of St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth.4 According to Katherine's (his daughter) marriage certificate to Johann Reinwald. dated 13 August 1878, his name was listed as John G.1 On 8 September 1879, Johannes was the Secretary at the St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Plymouth, Jefferson County, Nebraska.13
     Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Lanz appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Plymouth, Jefferson, Nebraska, enumerated 4 June 1880 reporting Johannes as a farmer. Their children John E, Philip, Mary Elizabeth, George Henry, Anna Barbara, Conrad, Emillie and Katharine were listed as living with them, as well as her husband, Johann "John" Reinwald and daugher, Emillie Anne "Millie" Reinwald. Missing from the census is their son John Conrad Reinwald age 4. Did the Enumerator just forget to write him down?14 According to the school census of 2 April 1883, in in School District No. 43, Jefferson County, Nebraska, Philip Lanz, Mary Elizabeth Lanz, George Henry Lanz, Anna Barbara "Annie" Lanz, Conrad Lanz and Emillie Lanz were listed in the household of Johannes "John" Lanz. The family is living on land described as Township 4, Section 19, NE portion.15
     Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Lanz appeared on the 1885 State Census of Plymouth, Jefferson, Nebraska, enumerated 15 June 1885. Their children John E, Philip, Mary Elizabeth, George Henry, Conrad, Emillie and Elizabeth were listed as living with them.16
     In 1894, Johannes was assigned to Supervise the cemetary at St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Plymouth, Jefferson, Nebraska.13
     Johannes "John" Lanz appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Plymouth, Jefferson, Nebraska, in the household of John E Lanz Sr and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Lanz, his son and daugher-in-law.17
     Johannes "John" Lanz died on 28 November 1901 in Plymouth, Jefferson, Nebraska, at the age of 70.2,18,4
     Johannes "John" Lanz's obituary was printed in the The Plymouth News, circulated in Plymouth, Jefferson County, Nebraska, on 30 November 1901. The obituary mentioning that his wife, Catherina, as being deceased. He was survived by his children: John E Lanz Sr, Emillie Runge, Katharine Reinwald, Mary Elizabeth Aebig, Philip Lanz, George Henry Lanz and Conrad Lanz.3
Johannes's obituary states:
John Lanz was born in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany in 1831, died at the home of his son John E. Lanz at nine o'clock Nov 28th 1901 age 70 years. He came to Wellesey Ont, Canada when 16 years of age where he was married and raised a large family. In 1879, he came to Nebraska and purchased a farm in Plymouth precinct where he has resided ever since. Four years ago he was bereft of his companion and has resided with his son John. Seven children are living who mourn his loss, his son John E. Lanz, Mrs Henry Runge of Plymouth, Mrs John Reinwald of Swanton, Mrs Jacob Aebig of DeWitt and his sons Phillip, George and Conrad Lanz of Rosthern Sask, Canada. He was a kind husband, loving father and respected citizen.
His funeral will be held at the St Paul German Lutheran church Sunday morning December 1 at 10 o'clock. Burial in the German cemetery.3

     1999 - I don't believe that the John Lanz who purchased the property on Document 14232 is this John Lanz. I found a John Lanz age 54 born in Germany living on this property in the 1881 Census. Johannes is living in Nebraska at this time. More research is needed to establish who this John Lanz is and what family he belongs to.

30 December 2007- I am not sure why the Rinemiller boys are living with John and Catherine in the 1861 census . Also in the household is Henry Hoffman, born in Germany, age 14.

2. Are the Rinemiller boys the nephew of Catherine? Eva Schick married John Reinmiller. Are they Sisters?

     On 3 March 1885, John Lanz married Anna Streicker in Wellesley, Waterloo County, Ontario.6 John Lanz was made Executor of the will of his father, Heinrich Lanz on 17 March 1888 in North Easthope Township, Perth County, Ontario, Canada.7
     John Lanz died on 7 December 1916 at the age of 61.2

     Katharine "Katie" Lanz was born on 3 April 1856 in Phillipsburg, Waterloo, Ontario,Canada.3,4,5,6 She was the daughter of Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Schick.1,2
     Katharine "Katie" Lanz appeared on the 1861 Canadian Census of North Easthope, Perth, Ontario, Canada in the household of her parents, Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Lanz.7
     On 23 July 1878, Katharine "Katie" Lanz married Johann "John" Reinwald, son of Conrad Reinwald and Anna Elisabeth Kircher, at St James' Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wellesley, Waterloo County, Ontario, They were married by Rev. John Strempfer. Marriage Certificate has Katherine's Surname spelled as LANTZ. The marriage certificate lists John's mother as Christinia Hafermehl. Anna Elisabeth Habermehl is not the eldest John's mother, as she would only be 11 at the time of his birth. There is some confusion as to whether Conrad married twice or not. (June 2003 This confusion seems to finally be cleared) The Baptism of Kunigunda states that her mother's name is Elizabeth Kircher. Also the marriage certificate of Conrad & Anna Elizabeth supports that there were indeed two wives, both who were named Elizabeth. Johann's baptismal clearly proves that his mother is Anna Elisabeth KIRCHER. The only reason that I think that Johann lists his mother as Christinia Hafermehl is that Anna Elisabeth died when Johann was very young and Elisabeth (Christinia) was the only mother that he knew.

     Katharine "Katie" Lanz appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Plymouth, Jefferson, Nebraska in the household of her parents, Johannes "John" Lanz and Catherina Lanz.10
     Katharine Reinwald and Johann "John" Reinwald appeared on the 1885 State Census of the Village of Dewitt, Saline, Nebraska, enumerated 3 June 1885. Their children Henry William, John Conrad, Emillie Anne, George Henry and Anna Margaret were listed as living with them.11
     Katharine Reinwald and Johann "John" Reinwald appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Swanton, Saline, Nebraska, enumerated 1 June 1900. Their children Henry William, George Henry, Anna Margaret, Anna Elizabeth, Marie Catharine, Edith Anna and Ella Anna Catharina were listed as living with them, as was their grandchild, an unknown person , an unknown person mother Emille died 24 April 1900. Their son, John Conrad Reinwald, at the time of the census, is living in Stoney Hill District of Saskatchewan.12


     In the 30 November 1901 obituary of Johannes "John" Lanz which printed in the The Plymouth News, circulated in Plymouth, Jefferson County, Nebraska, John E Lanz Sr, Emillie Runge, Katharine Reinwald, Mary Elizabeth Aebig, Philip Lanz, George Henry Lanz and Conrad Lanz were listed as a survivor.13
     In the 7 December 1901 obituary of Johannes "John" Lanz which printed in the Jefferson County Journal, circulated in Fairbury, Jefferson County, Nebraska, Katharine Reinwald, John E Lanz Sr, Philip Lanz, Mary Elizabeth Aebig, George Henry Lanz, Conrad Lanz and Millie Runge were listed as a survivor child; his children.14
     Katharine Reinwald and Johann "John" Reinwald immigrated to Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada, with her family Anna Elizabeth Reinwald, Edith Anna Reinwald, Marie Catharine "Mary" Reinwald and Edward Henry Reinwald arriving on 1903.15
     In the 1906 Canadian Census in Sec 26, Twsp 43, Rge 5, 3W Meridian, Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada, Katharine was listed as the wife of Johann included in the household is Anna Elizabeth Reinwald, Marie Catharine "Mary" Reinwald, Edith Anna Reinwald and Edward Henry Reinwald.15
     Katharine was listed as the wife of Johann "John" Reinwald in the 1911 Canadian Census of Laird, Saskatchewan, Canada. Also included in the household: Marie Catharine "Mary" Reinwald, Edith Anna Reinwald and Edward Henry Reinwald.16
     Katharine "Katie" Lanz died on 26 February 1927 in Laird, Saskatchewan, at the age of 70.17,5,6,4
     Katharine was buried on Tuesday, 1 March 1927 in the Stony Hill Cemetery, located in Laird, Saskatchewan , Canada.5,17,4 She was reported as the mother on the Social Security Application of George Henry Reinwald.18 Katharine "Katie" Lanz was reported as the mother on the Social Security Application of Henry William Reinwald.19
