     George W. Murphy was born in December 1879, Oregon.1,2 He was the son of Preston Holcombe Murphy and Sarah A. Bond.
     George W. Murphy appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Springfield, Lane, Oregon, in the household of Preston Holcombe Murphy and Sarah A. Murphy.3
     On 26 August 1908, George W. Murphy married Stella May Turnidge in Linn County County, Oregon, marriage date is based on the 1910 Census..2,4,5
     George W. Murphy and Stella May Murphy appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Claskanie, Columbia, Oregon, at Main Street, enumerated 21 April 1910, reporting George as a High School Principal.6
     George W. Murphy and Stella May Murphy appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of South Bend, Pacific, Washington, at 210 Wilford Ave., enumerated 3 January 1920, reporting George as the Superintendant of Schools. Their son Keith P. was listed as living with them.4
     George W. Murphy supplied the information on the death certificate of his brother, Preston Holcombe Murphy who died on 30 November 1930 in Newberg, Yamhill, Oregon. George was living in Oakville, Washington; from pneumonia.7,8
     In the before 2 July 1949 obituary of Elizabeth Hattie "Lizzie" Murphy which printed in the Statesman, circulated in Salem, Marion County, Oregon, George W. Murphy was listes as survivor.9
