     Jessie Neilans was baptized on 8 June 1851 in Foulden, Berwickshire, Scotland, daughter of John Neilans and Helen Simpson.1

     John Neilans was born on 15 August 1878 in Crichton, Midlothian Scotland.1,3,2 He was the son of John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Dickson / Dixon.1,2
     John Neilans immigrated to United States.4
     John Neilans filed the Petition of Naturalization on between 1881 and 1910. Were residing at New York.4
     John Neilans appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Wainfleet, Welland, Ontario, Canada in the household of his parents, John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Neilans.5
     John Neilans appeared on the 1892 State Census of Grand Island, Erie, New York in the household of his parents, John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Neilans.6
     John Neilans appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Grand Island, Erie, New York in the household of his parents, John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Neilans.7
     John Neilans appeared on the 1905 State Census of Grand Island, Erie, New York in the household of his parents, John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Neilans.8
     On 8 February 1908, John Neilans married Lillie Katherine Landel, daughter of (Unknown) Landel and Mary E. (Unknown), in Fort Erie, Welland County, Ontario.9,4,10
     John Neilans and Lillie Katherine Neilans appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Tonawanda, Erie, New York, at River Road, enumerated 11 May 1910, reporting John as a farmer. Their daughter Lily was listed as living with them, as well as Lillie's mother, Mary E. Landel.4

On 12 September 1918, John Neilans was listed on the 1917 - 1918 draft list residing in Tonawanda, Erie, New York.11 He was mentioned in the obituary of Lillian I Neilans, his sister, on 4 September 1955 which printed in the Couier Express, circulated in Buffalo, Erie County, New York.12
     In the 13 October 1956 obituary of Thomas Graham Neilans (his brother) which printed in the Buffalo Evening News, circulated in Buffalo, Erie County, New York, John Neilans was listes as survivor.13
     John Neilans died on 15 August 1959 in Abion, Orleans, New York, at the age of 81.9,14

     John Neilans was born in Whittinghame, East Lothian Scotland.2,1 He has also been reported as being born circa 1814 in Cockburnspath, Berwickshire, Scotland.3
     On 24 June 1842, John Neilans married Helen Simpson, daughter of John Simpson and Margaret Wait, in Chirnside, Berwickshire County.4
     John Neilans and Helen Neilans appeared on the 1871 Scotish Census of Lauder, Berwickshire, Scotland, at New Mills, enumerated 3 April 1871, reporting John as a farmer with 250 acres. Their children Margaret, Thomas, John Simpson, Peter, Isabella and George Steele were listed as living with them.2
     John Neilans and Helen Neilans appeared on the 1881 Scotish Census of Lauder, Berwickshire, at New Mills, enumerated 3 April 1881, reporting John as a farmer with 250 acres employing one (1) man and two (2) women. Their children George Steele, Peter and Thomas were listed as living with them.3

     John Simpson Neilans was born on 4 February 1848 Scotland.3,4,2,5,6 He was the son of John Neilans and Helen Simpson.2
     John Simpson Neilans was baptized on 20 February 1848 in Foulden, Berwickshire, Scotland, son of John Neilans and Helen Simpson.6
     John Simpson Neilans appeared on the 1871 Scotish Census of Lauder, Berwickshire, Scotland in the household of his parents, John Neilans and Helen Neilans.7 John was potato merchant on 15 August 1871 in Crichton, Midlothian, Scotland.8
     On 7 November 1871, John Simpson Neilans married Lillias Dickson / Dixon, daughter of George Dickson / Dixon and Helen Nimmo, in Ormiston, East Lothian County.9,3,10,8
     John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Neilans appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Wainfleet, Welland, Ontario, Canada, enumerated 4 April 1881, reporting John as Alexander Neilons. Their children Helen, Margaret and John were listed as living with them, I am assuming that this is John due to the following reasons.
1. Age and birth place is the same as further Census indicates
2. Wife's name, age and birth place is the correct
3. Childrens names, ages and birth places are correct.11
     John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Dickson / Dixon immigrated to United States arriving on 1890.3
     John Simpson Neilans filed the Petition of Naturalization on between 1892 and 1900. Were residing at New York.3,12
     John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Neilans appeared on the 1892 State Census of Grand Island, Erie, New York, enumerated 16 February 1892, reporting John as a farmer and an Alien. Their children Helen, Margaret, John, Mary, George Dickson, Thomas Graham and Lillian I were listed as living with them.12
     John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Neilans appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Grand Island, Erie, New York, enumerated 21 January 1900, reporting John as a farmer that was a Naturalized Citizen. Their children Thomas Graham, John, Mary, George Dickson, Lillian I, Charles W. and Peter J were listed as living with them, as well as Isabelle Killinger, their grand daughter.13
     John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Neilans appeared on the 1905 State Census of Grand Island, Erie, New York, at Ferry Street, enumerated 1 June 1905, reporting John as a farmer and a Citizen who has lived in New York for 15 years. Their children John, George Dickson, Thomas Graham, Lillian I, Charles W. and Peter J were listed as living with them, also living with the family is Juy Webester, a farm laborer and Isabelle Killinger, their grand daughter (though the census reports that she is a niece.)14
     John Simpson Neilans and Lillias Neilans appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Grand Island, Erie, New York, at 104 Ferry Road, enumerated 25 April 1910 Their children George Dickson, Margaret, Thomas Graham, Lillian I, Charles W. and Peter J were listed as living with them, as well as Isabelle Killinger, their grand daughter.3
     On 21 April 1918, John Simpson Neilans was living at Cox Road, in Grand Island, Erie, New York, when he died at the age of 70, leaving Lillias as his surviving spouse. The information on the death certificate being supplied by Margaret Barnes.2,1
     John was buried on Wednesday, 24 April 1918 in the Maple Grove Cemetery, located in Grand Island, Erie County, New York .15
