Harold Reinwald, 88, of Salem died Saturday.
He was born in Laird, Canada, and was a colonel in the volunteer militia during World War II. He worked in construction and built pizza parlors, schools and homes throughout Salem. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He helped build Salem’s civic center complex and received an award for his work on it. He was construction superintendent for West Coast Groceries and was involved in building Western Oregon University in Monmouth. His wife, Pearl, died in 1999.
Survivors include his son, Daniel of Salem; daughter, Alice Coleman of Lebanon; adopted son, Ted Reinwald of Pinedale, Wyo; brother, Carl of Salem; sister, Dorothy Kensmoe of Paulsbo, Wash; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visiting will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. Services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Belcrest Memorial Park.3
