John Conrad Reinwald was born on 5 September 1874 in Phillipsburg, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada date based on transcripts from Stony Hill Lutheran Church, Laird, SK, Canada.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Johann "John" Reinwald and Katharine "Katie" Lanz.

Taken from Old & New Furrows - The Story of Rosthern: Before the white man came to the area, the Stoney Hill site was the overnight camping spot for bands of Indians travelling between Prince Albert and North Battleford. Canadian land agents visited the US telling people of this new frontier in hopes of attracting settlers to the North West.

Late in 1898, Conrad Koenig, Sr. and John Reinwald, Jr. came to Rosthern looking for the land they had been told about. They found their homesteads at Stoney Hill and wrote back to their families to follow. That first summer was spent building shelter and breaking some land on which to grow food for the coming winter.

During the first years other settlers followed from Nebraska including the families of George Schmidt, John Schmidt, Philip Lanz, George Lanz, Louis Zulaf, William Zulauf, Jacob Aebig, John Reinwald, Sr. and Andrew Hoffer. The population was growing, more land was being broken and Stony Hill was developing into a community.8

John Conrad Reinwald appeared on the census of 5 June 1901 in Ebenfeld, Saskatchewan, Canada, living near were Philip Lanz, Jacob Caleb Zulauf and Louis Zulauf.3 On 15 March 1904, John Conrad Reinwald was living on the homestead in All of SE 1/4 Sec 22, Twp 43, Rgs 5, W of 3rd Meridian, Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada.9
John Conrad Reinwald appeared on the 1906 Canadian Census of Sec 22, Twsp 43, Rge 5, 3W Meridian, Laird, Saskatchewan, Canada, enumerated 5 July 1906.10
John Conrad Reinwald died on 10 September 1908 in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada, at the age of 34.11,12,4,13
John was buried on Sunday, 13 September 1908 in the Stony Hill Cemetery, located in Laird, Saskatchewan , Canada. His tombstone has the following inscription: In memory of John C. son of John & Catherine Reinwald. O Death where is thy sting. O Grave where is thy Victory.14,15,4
