     Alexander married Nancy R. Prather on 10 April 1834 in Washington, Missouri.1,2
     Alexander Sumpter and Nancy R. Sumpter appeared on the 1850 Federal Census in Harmony, Washington County, Missouri, enumerated 7 December 1850, reporting Alexander as a Farmer. Their children Elizabeth, Sarah Jane, Nancy, Drucilla, Lucinda, Susannah and Mary Lavina were listed as living with them.3

     Alexander Sumpter Jr was born on 15 September 1853 in Crabtree, Linn, Oregon.1 He was the son of Alexander Sumpter and Nancy R. Prather.1
