Photograph taken in late 1954 or early 1955 at Williams Air Force Base

Ed Baxter about to climb aboard an old F-100 for the trip from England AFB, Louisiana to Hickam to Guam to Phan Rang in September 1966.  First leg was a long one - air refueled 5 times!

"My last flight in an RF-4 that the Minnesota National Guard gave me the day before I retired in 1981.  Less hair, more gut than other pictures!  I knew a lot of guard guys (their group commander had been in our lower class
55-R) at Williams when I was there.  They did a nice fly-by over the University of Minnesota-Duluth at about 500 feet where we had the retirement ceremony."

The T-33 was hauled back from an Aux Field west of Williams Air Force Base after Ken Roberts and his instructor forgot to gangload the fuel switches and ran out of petrol during a go-around.  They went off the end of the runway and under a barb wire fence.  The wire came up over the top of the blown canopy - notice that the canopy came down on top of the vertical stabilizer!
