Ethel Minerva Green
(Daughter of C.D. Green)
Ethel
was born in Anoka, December 1, 1881. Ethel was a very small woman and very
active in the Baptist Church and Sunday School most of her life. She was a hat
maker in Lee's Millinery Store (Beehive Building, Main St., Anoka) for over 35
years. Ethel married Henry H. Scribner Sept. 28, 1924 at the home of C.D. Green.
Henry Scribner was born Dec. 10, 1857 in Calais, Maine. He came to Anoka and
worked in the logging camps, later the Pillsbury Flour Mill by the Rum River in
Anoka for 50 years. Before coming to Anoka he worked with his brother, James, in
a shoe factory in Lynn, Mass. A branch of that factory was located on Ferry St.,
Anoka in 1886, known as North Star Shoe Factory. Henry and Ethel had no children.
He was first married to Lucy Scribner. Henry died May 15, 1947. Ethel died Jan.
29, 1975. Both are buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka.
