Mary (Watkin) Lester

          Mary Watkin was born April 8, 1849 in a flat on Trapp Lane in Prescot, Lancashire, England to Joseph and Mary (Wood) Watkin. Mary's father Joseph was born 1811 in Whiston, Lancashire, England, Joseph's occupation was a stone mason. Mary's mother Mary Wood was born 1815 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England.

          Mary Watkin had one brother Thomas born 1845 in Prescot, and four sisters Ann Born 1843 in Prescot, Catherine 1848 Prescot, Rebecca 1853 Prescot, and Maria 1856 Whiston.

          Mary and Henry Lester where married on January 22, 1871 at the Parish Church in the Parish of St Thomas Eccleston, Lancashire, England. The witnesses to the marriage where William Brownhill and Abagail Dagnall who was the half sister of Henry Lester. ( William Brownbill and Abagail would themselves get married ) Mary and Henry had six children James, Joseph, Henry, Robert, Lucy, and William, all born in St Helens, Lancashire England. Mary and Henry resided in their flat on 37 Barrow St. St Helens, Lancashire, England with their family. Mary died July 15, 1886 the cause of death is listed as Unavoidable Hemorrage Placenta Pravia 24 days. She died in their flat on Barrow St. with her husband Henry at her side, she was 36 years old. Mary was intered in St Helens Cemetery, St Helens, Lancashire, England on 17 Jul 1886 she was preceded in death by her son Robert Lester who died at the age of 2 and was also buried in St Helens Cemetery.
