Lester Family History<a name="rdlester"><h3>Richard Lester 1887-1958</h3></a>

Richard Lester

     Richard Lester was born August 25, 1887 in St Helens Lancashire, England. He was the first child born to Henry and his second wife Mary Ellen Chisnell. Richard was 7 months old when he immigrated to the United States with his mother Mary Ellen and brothers Joseph, Henry, and William. They arrived in the port of Philadelphia on June 19, 1888 and settled in Phillipsburg, Centre County Pennsylvania. In 1900 the family resided at 140 Chestnut St. Barnesboro, Pennsylvania Richard was thirteen years old and he and his brother William fourteen where the only two sons still living at home with Henry and Mary Ellen. Richard married Bertha Hesaltine in 1909 and In 1910 they resided at 330 Philadelphia Ave. Barnesboro, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, at that time Richard was a dragman for the Pennsylvania Rail Road. In 1920 Richard and Bertha resided at 88 Philadelphia Ave. with thier two children, Richard E. Nine years old and Charles two. At that time Richard was working as a truck driver. By 1937 Richard moved his family to the Ferndale area of Johnstown Pennsylvania where they resided at 519 Victory Ave. Later in life Richard would work for McNally Tire & Rubber Co. he was also a member and past vice president of the Ferndale Fire Co. Richard passed away August 7, 1958 in Lee Hospital Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was intered in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
