Harris, Moses Jr. (1749-1837)- This drawing of Moses Harris, Jr. was done by my husband William J. Zamora for my father Philip J. Harris' book " Moses of the Barkeaters". Harris, Philip & Alice Home This photograph was taking from a hot-air balloon over our home in Harrisena. You can see Alice (Weatherwax) Harris (1932-1999) in a red dress taking a photo of the hot-air balloon. They later exchanged photographs. I like to call this picture "Heaven". It reminds me of my near-death experience and the level I saw another world/plane resting "just above the tree tops". Photograph in possession of Renee M. Zamora. |

Harris, Townsend (1801-1878) - Townsend Harris is my 2nd cousin 6 times removed. He was the first U.S. consul to Japan, credited with opening trade between Japan and the western world; he was portrayed by actor John Wayne in the Hollywood movie "The Barbarian and the Geisha". Harris, Townsend "Medal" (1801-1878) - I found this medal on eBay for sale. I couldn't afford to bid on it so I just copied the picture. Townsend Harris is my 2nd cousin 6 times removed. The City College of New York awards the Townsend Harris Medal each year. In 1846 Harris joined the New York City Board of Education, serving as its president from 1846-48. He founded the Free Academy of the City of New York, which later became the City College of New York, to provide education to the city's working people. Scanned image in possession of Renee M.
