Bob served in the US Navy Reserves.
Robert Glen Way
Bob and his brother both enlisted in military service from Oklahoma
during World War II. Bob served as a Fireman in the US Navy. His brother went
into the US Army's air corp. His brother stayed in the service after the war and
went on to fly planes for the Air Force.
O. Doyle Dannenberg
Doyle served in the US Navy during WWII and from 1943-1946.
Richard Frazer
Richard served as a Gunners mate in the US Navy during WWII. During
the war he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga and commissioned the
carrier USS Shangri-La. He was in the Navy for 23 years. He was buried with
honors at Fort
Rosecrans National Cemetery.
Jack William Hartshorn, Major
Jack enlisted in the United States Army on 22 Jun 1946 at Fort MacArthur,
San Diego, California. His civil occupation was Machine Operator with 2 years of
college education. Jack stay in the Army, became an officer
and retired as a Major. He then began a second career as a school teacher.
Betty Jean (Valaske) Hartshorn
Betty Valaske joined the US Navy WAVES toward the end
of World War II and served for two years. She was a Link trainer instructor at
Pensacola, Florida. It was at Pensacola that she meet and married Owen Hartshorn
who was undergoing pilot training.
Owen Proctor Hartshorn, LTjG
Son of Frank and Ruth Hartshorn and cousin to Jack, Owen enlisted in
the US Navy in 1940 and served as a radioman for VB-102 during World War II. He was in
several major battles in the Pacific including the Battle of Guadalcanal. After
the war, Owen was accepted into the pilot training program. Over the next
several years, Owen flew many missions and was noted for helping talk down the
pilot of a damaged plane outside Alameda. He died in an airplane collision in
Brazil on 25 Feb 1960. LT Owen P. Hartshorn is interred in
Arlington National Cemetery: Section 6, Site 9542-3 L.

John Ridenhour
A Revolutionary War veteran, John was 15 years old and living in
Pennsylvania when the revolution began.
William Sims, Private
William Sims was a Private in the Virginia Continental Line during the Revolutionary War. He was also noted for Patriotic Service.
LT William Grant, Jr
William Grant Jr. served as a Lieutenant in South Carolina during the
Revolutionary War. He received a pension for his service.

Daniel Stockton
Daniel Stockton served New Jersey with Patriot Service
during the Revolutionary War.
Richard Stockton - cousin to Daniel
Richard served New Jersey with Patriot Service. While
serving as a Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, he was appointed as a
replacement delegate to the Continental Congress of 1776. During the Revolution
he served on committees supporting the war effort until he was captured and
imprisoned. The British burned his vast library and writings and seized his
property. Richard's health never recovered from the ill-treated he received as a
prisoner and he died a few years after his release.

James Smallwood, Colonel
James, father of Mary, was a Colonel in the
Maryland Militia until 1713. By trade he was a merchant, plantation owner and
attorney. He represented Charles County in the Maryland General Assembly from
1692 until his death. He was appointed High Sheriff of Charles County, MD in
1694.
