Reflections Mortuary of Albuquerque is handling arrangements. North County Times – Wednesday, November 21, 2007 By Scott Marksberry I live in Tennessee, and Joyce Lawrence is my aunt. I am unable to go to New Mexico to be with my family there. Even at such a distance, the sympathetic comments in this forum allow me to feel a bit more connected in the midst of such an unbelievable family tragedy. While I don't "feel like reading an online forum today", I am not left with too many options right now. My aunt was a brilliant and lively woman. She loved to learn and teach. She loved her daughter and her husband more than anything in this world. When she asked a question, she was genuinely interested in the answer- a truly selfless quality! The picture of her that is posted with the article is my aunt Joyce dancing at my wedding- one of my favorite memories of her! My family is heart-broken over this loss. I can guarantee that any sympathy expressed in this forum is appreciated by all of us. Thank you or your kind words and support. By Stacia Nusbaum Joyce was the most amazing woman I have ever met in my 45 years. She was the most kind, sincere, and selfless person. I was often taken aback by her positive outlook on life and people. Her sister was right, Joyce always had something positive to say and she was an uplifting presence. It was an honor and a privilege to know her. I am quite close with her daughter. We ride quarter horses together and show them. Joyce and her husband worked so hard so their daughter could have this opportunity. I have watched her beautiful daughter grow up for the last 7 years. The New Mexican story got so many details of the crash wrong. She was headed south to pick up her daughter at a local riding stable. Joyce was in her early 50's. I was so thankful that her daughter was not in the car. Thank God she has a wonderful and strong father to lean on during this time. Our community and this world have lost a beautiful soul. You will always be in my heart, Joyce. And I will do everything I can to help your family. By John Slattery For all interested, according to The New Mexican, there will be a memorial service for Joyce at the Randall Davies Audubon Center at the head of Canyon Road. It's at 2:00 tomorrow, Sunday, July 1st. Joyce Lawrence was a colleague of mine at SFCC, and she was a friend. Her sister's comments depict Joyce so well. She was one of the most thoughtful, caring, considerate and dedicated people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Her students were blessed to have had such an exceptional teacher. I am so very saddened to learn about her death. This tragic accident has taken a great soul from this world, and her passing diminishes us all. Dear Joyce, you were the best, you made a difference, you changed so many people's lives for the better, and you will be so greatly missed. The New Mexican - June 27, 2007

Robert “Bobbie” Glen Way (1922 – 2007) Robert Glen Way passed from this world on the final ride of his life January 8, 2007 after a long struggle to survive in Ole’ Oklahoma.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Robert C. and Gladys Sims Way, his precious daughter, Linda Sue Hartshorn and wife, Mary Thorne Way. He is survived by a brother, Billy E. and wife Mary Lou Way of Meeker, OK; his son, Jimmie Robert Way, Escondido, CA; his favorite “Uncle”, Al Sims, Midwest City, OK; five grandchildren, Shelley, Rodney, Steven, Robert and David Hartshorn, Cheyenne, WY; nieces and nephews, Billy Maxxon Way, Sherry Lou Wilfong, Christy Coleman, Debra Tarpenning, Richard, Robby and Randy Way, and special great nephew Chad Coleman, Meeker, OK, and many, many special friends.
“Bobby” was born April 17, 1922 and raised for twenty years at Payson Pump station, where his father was station engineer. He graduated from Meeker Schools and enlisted in the U. S. Navy. His talent for music was inherited and shared with his father and uncle; he could whistle the birds from their nests and pencil sketch faces of friends and his favorite sailor boy on the envelopes he sent home while serving as a fireman in the Navy, from 1942 until 1945 at the Naval Air Station in San Diego, CA.
Bob’s occupation was in the automotive world; however, his worldly occupation was that of a tour guide. Going for rides, also inherited by the Way family, was his way of life. He knew little known facts about the surrounding counties, their history, people, and buildings long covered by weeds and tall grass. He had driven nearly every road and knew nearly every detail of his beloved Oklahoma. His gift of communicating that history was enjoyed by all of us who rode with him.
God’s speed and thanks Bob, we’ll think of you often as we ride:
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, January 12, 2007 at the New Hope Cemetery Pavilion, Meeker, OK with Rev. Hubert Gilbert officiating. Escondido has lost a giant I read in the paper that Doyle Dannenberg had died. I knew Doyle through Rotary. Doyle was at the Charter Night when the Valley Center Club was chartered in 1967. My two brothers, Bob and Jesse Hutchings, and I are the only charter members left in our club. Doyle was one of the most interesting men I have ever know. He always had a positive attitude about everything. He never had a negative word about anyone or anything. We used to talk about how the four-way test of Rotary was the most important test, and if everyone lived by this test it would be a much better world.
The last time I saw Doyle was at our club meeting. He told me he was shooting for 60 years of perfect attendance. I'm sorry he didn't make it. Rotary has lost a valuable member and the community has lost a real gentleman.
On behalf of my brothers and me, we send out condolences to the family and friends for the loss of a true giant of the community.
