edited their book on the WICKERSHAM genealogy. It is an extensive work that Wickersham families will find extremely useful in their research. The

individuals,

First Generation
Notes: Deed Bk 30 - pg 300, 2 June 1856, James C. Westerfield and Thomas Allin as Commissioners of Mercer Circuit. Court convey to Phoebe Shofield, late Phoebe Claunch; d/o Sampson and Elizabeth Wickersham, dec'd. This deed is to convey to Phoebe her portion in the land of her said father and mother as surveyed and allotted to her and known as lot No. 4 and being one-eighth part of 215 acres and one-ninth part of 43 acres land on Carmickels Creek.
Note: In 1840 William and Rachel moved to Greene County, MO. In 1841 Sanders joined a wagon train of traders with John Bidwell and emigrated to California. He became a trader, blacksmith and leader of wagon trains from Missouri to California. He served as blacksmith for General Fremont on his expedition to California in 1848. Sanders died in Missouri at age seventy-six. He crossed the plains more than twenty times.
