Witnecote with Dosthill, form a chapelry, containing 997 acres of land; in 1841 164 houses, and 718 inhabitants; rateable value £2377. Wilnecote is a pleasant scattered village, 3 miles S.E. by S. from Tamworth; of which Sir Robert Peel, Bart, is lord of the manor and principal owner. The chapel, dedicated to the Holy Trinity is a small stone structure, consisting of nave, chancel, and low tower. The living, a perpetual curacy, rated at £90, augmented with £1000. Queen Anne's bounty, and £l200 parliamentary grant,in the patronage of the Vicar of Tamworth, and incumbency of the Rev. Robert Watkins Lloyd. Wilnecote Hall is a neat brick residence, the seat and property of Major Thomas Bridget.
