History Set Right ! Omitted from the book " The first 100 years of McKeesport " any mention of Daniel Pollard , who's contribution to this then growing community was at least worthy of mention ,but ,omitted ( in my opinion)because the widow of Daniel Pollard Sued William E. Harrison , for improprieties regarding the execution of Daniel's will to which William was an executor. In the short period following the death of Daniel Pollard ( 1869 ) and the repeal of the Civil War income Tax ( 1872) , William E. Harrison's income sky rocketed . Though he paid her all the monies that where due to her at the time of his death , he paid not one dime of any interest or increase in value in the 3 years it took him to dispose of his assets . William E. Harrison Chaired the communities responsible for the publication of " The first 100 years of McKeesport " Daniel's Mention Below was not omitted from "The History Of Allegheny Co.'s" chapter on McKeesport ! Daniel's partners where William Dunshee , Isaac Hammitt, of McKeesport and Victor Wilson of Vicksburg , Mississippi. Daniel & William Dunshee , together owned the McKeesport Docks. This land was sold to accommodate the McKeesport Tube Works in 1869 after Daniel's death . William Dunshee moved the docks across the river & continued to operate there late into the 1890's . Being either unwilling or unable to buy the land for himself outright .
To Address the diminished mention of William Dunshee in the same publication John Harrison , Father of William E. Harrison was after a law suite evicted from the land he was found to be illegally mining , and it passed to William Dunshee's Father Andrew T. Dunshee , He upon retirement passed it along to his son , William who then operated it in partnership with Daniel Pollard late into the 1840's , and possibly early 1850's . Oh I almost forgot The Coal mine ! Well it was on the land of Col. John Neel ! LOL
