Most of the church records that we have were taken from microfilms of
the original documents obtained on loan from the Family History Library
in Salt Lake City. In a few cases, the original documents were viewed
by us. As noted in the disclaimer
for
this web site, the information is correct to the best of our knowledge
and is provided as a convenience to other researchers.
-
These are abridged lists of the original records. Although
we might have our own need to add to this information in the future, there
are no plans to complete the lists and provide unabridged versions.
-
Some records are incomplete because that is all of the information we have.
Most of the lists were generated from photcopies of the microfilm or original,
and many pages contain only partial records at the top or bottom.
Again, there are no intentions to complete these entries.
-
The name spellings are kept the same as in the original, as best as could
be determined. Even where it is obvious that the same individual
or surname is intended. For example, for Margaretha and Margretha,
or Schmitt and Schmidt, both variant spellings are used.
-
In the few cases where well known abbreviations are used for a name, such
as Joh. for Johann, the full name is written out.
-
We strongly encourage all interested researchers to view the original
information on microfilm. Besides this always being the preferred
practice, some records contain a wealth of genealogical information that
does not appear in the lists. (For examples see the Betschdorf
transcriptions.)
