The
present Dierdorf Evangelical/Protestant church was
built in 1903/04 out of stone from the Dierdorf
fortress demolished in 1902. The old church, St. Jakobus,
was erected in 1200. |
It
was under Count Johann IV of Wied that the
congregation "reformed". |

Although
its appearance blends with the church, the bell tower is an older
construction. It contains three bells: the Prayer Bell (1463),
the Reconciliation Bell (1894), and the Awakening Bell (1960). |
Several
old tombstones are incorporated into the outside walls of the church. |
