SHAMOKIN DISPATCH, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22, 1928

Daniel Heiser Dies of Stroke; Long Illness

Well Known Citizen Passed Away at Home on Boyd Street Yesterday Afternoon

From the effects of a stroke of apoplexy and a complication of diseases, Daniel Heiser, well known and respected citizen of this city, died at his home, 510 West Boyd Street, at 1:25 o’clock yesterday afternoon.  By strange coincidence his death occurred just six months to the day after that of his wife.

Daniel Heiser was born in Turkey Valley this state in 1853.  He came to Shamokin in early boyhood and had been an honored resident of the community ever since.  He followed the occupation of mining until advanced years and ill health forced him to relinquish that occupation.

The deceased was a God-fearing man and was a devout member of the First United Brethren Church where he was a faithful attendant at divine services while in health.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Eva Mensch of Shamokin, and five children as follows:

William H. of Akron O, Mrs. S. H. Long of Shamokin, Lucetta at home, Daniel Leroy and Clarence E. of Shamokin.  There are also ten grandchildren and one great grand child.

The funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon, with short services at the home, after which the body will be taken to the United Brethren Church for further services.  Rev. H. J. Behney officiating.  Burial will be made in the family plot in the Shamokin cemetery.
