Helen Elizabeth Farver Wichert 1921 - 2002 Helen E. Wichert, age 81, of Bay Port, Michigan, died Wednesday afternoon, August 14, 2002, from a ruptured aneurysm. She was born May 15, 1921, in Chandler Twp. at the home of her parents, the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Nelson) Farver. On June 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Alford Wichert at the Elkton Methodist Church. Helen lived in Huron County all her life. She was a life long member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and was a devoted wife and mother. Helen was an ardent genealogist. Her name is familiar to most people researching one of her family lines, and she is listed as the source of information among the references in many family files posted on the internet. She was a close collaborator with Manzella Arter Coleman for the "Haas Cousins" manuscript, and Rege found her to be an invaluable partner for researching the Arter family. She traced the family trees of not only her family and her husband's, but many of the Chandler Twp. neighbors. If they wanted to know who was who from home, Helen could tell them. Surviving are her husband, Alford; two sons, Thomas of Elkton and James (Bev) of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Heather, Terry, Chris, Zach, Ashley and Elizabeth and two great grandchildren, Elyse and Sydney. Also surviving are three brothers, Floyd Farver and Henry (Marguerite) Farver of Elkton, and Cliff (Mary) Farver of Oak Beach; three sisters, Flossie Maynard of Pinnebog, Ulla Snider of Elkton and Luella Connors of Filion; and a sister-in-law, Lena Wichert of Pigeon. Preceding her in death were three sisters, Bertha Gilbert, Bessie Furness
and Lila Wilson.
Memorials may be given to the: Elkton United Methodist Church
