ANNIE LEE McCUTCHEN CRINER
Mrs. Annie Lee McCutchen Criner, 80, of Russellville, died Sunday,
July 15, 1973, at St. Mary�s Hospital.
She was the wife the late Everett E. Criner, daughter of the late
Josh and Alice Davis McCutchen and was a member of the West Side
Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, J.V. (Victor) Criner of Russellville, a
brother Carroll McCutchen of Rolla, Mo.,two sisters, Mrs. D.T. Baker
of Batesville and Mrs. Ben F. Pruitt of West Plaines, Mo., two
granddaughters,Mrs. Rick Harrington of Russellville and
Mrs. Bill Van Dyke of Lubbock, Texas, two great-granddaughters.
Funeral will be at 2p.m. Wednesday at West Side Church of Christ by
Van Ledbetter.
Burial will be in McFadden Cemetery at Dover by Humphrey- Gardner
Funeral Service.

Pearl Criner, Age 100, of California, died September 2,1992,a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs Sam Nesbitt of Cowell,Arkansas.
She is survived by two sons, Denver of Auburn California and
John Paul of Tahoe,Nevada;two daughters Ruby Sams of Tracy,California
and Opal Jerrells of Emeryville,California;two sisters, Lou Curtis
of Limestone,Arkansas and Effie Johnson of Clarksville,Arkansas and
a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.She was preceded in
death by her parents,her husband Herbert"Tubby"Criner; a son
Quintin Criner who was killed in World War II.
Services were September 2, 1992 at Olsen-Ellis Funeral Home of
Albany California.Burial was in Russellville,Arkansas under direction
of Humphrey Funeral Home.

DENVER CRINER
Denver Criner, 89, of Auburn, Calif., died April 26 (2004) at his
home.A memorial service was held at Sunrise Church with a graveside
service on April 30 in Auburn, California
He was born May 5, 1914 to Doctor Herbert and Minnie Pearl Nesbitt
Criner at Baker's Creek in Newton County.
He was the oldest of five children, Opal Jarrell, Quentin Criner,
Ruby Sams and John Paul Criner.
He was a Deer High School graduate and completed two years of college
at Arkansas Tech.
He married Bonnie Mae Bethel on June 23, 1933 in Cowell.She preceded
him in death in 1986.
They had six children, Herbert L. Criner, Walter L. Criner,
Betty Jo Robbins, Jim W. Criner, Bob L. Criner and Nadine Curtis.
He was superintendent for R.V. Lloyd's Construction Co. in Coachella
Valley, Calif. He owned and operated an auto garage in Indio, Calif.,
and after 24 years, retired from the state of California where he
served as construction inspector for design and construction,
transferred to the Division of Operations and Maintenance and
finally became the civil maintenance superintendent at the Delta
Field Division. He retired at the age of 73.
He had 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

OPAL CRINER BETHELL JARRELL
She passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2007 at the age of 90. She was
born in 1916 in Arkansas to Herbert and Pearl Criner.
Opal was a long time Emeryville resident and was living in a care
home in Visalia at the time of her death.
She is survived by her sons Billy Joe Bethell and Lloyd Wayne Bethell
and a brother, John Criner.
Opal was preceded in death by her beloved husband Willard Jarrell in
2002 and by two brothers and one sister.
She was a life time member of the VFW #1010 in Emeryville and the
Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2323 in
El Cerrito. Opal loved playing bingo but most of all loved having
family and friends over for Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners. She
certainly will be missed by all.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 11, 2007 from 2-7 P.M. and
the funeral service will be on Friday, January 12 at 11 A.M., both at
Sunset View Mortuary, Colusa at Fairmount Avenues, El Cerrito.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Cemetery.

RUBY CRINER SAMS
Ruby Sams age 79 of Tracy,California died Saturday July 25,1998 at
Kaiser Hospital,Walnut Creek
A native of Appleton,Arkansas, Mrs.Sams had lived 14 years in Tracy,
moving here from Emeryville.
A retired waitress, she had worked at the Gateway Cafe.She was a
member of the United Methodist Church of Oakland and enjoyed Bingo
and trips to Lake Tahoe and Reno.
Mrs. Sams enjoyed being with her family and was a great Southern
cook. She will be remembered as a loving wife,mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband J C Sams of Tracy; two daughters,
Mary Henderson of Fremont and Sharon Davison of Hercules; two
brothers,John Criner of Lake Tahoe and Denver Criner of Auburn;
a sister Opal Jarrell of Emeryville and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday,July 29, 1998 at Fry Memorial Chapel,
550 S Central Ave.,with interment at Tracy Cemetery.

PRESCOTT - Services for Rusty W. Criner, 54, who died Saturday in his
home in Wickenburg, were held Wednesday at the Ruffner Funeral Home

Mr. Criner was a cowboy and had worked on a number of the larger
ranches in northern and central Arizona.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mary Criner, a homemaker for 40 years, died Saturday at Mt. Diablo
Medical Center in Concord. She was 88.The native of Muskogee, Okla.,
moved to Bay Point 42 years ago.
She is survived by her daughters, Geneva Kestner of Concord,
Norma Cowlishaw of Antioch and Frances Criner of Bay Point; nine
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-
grandchildren.
Her husband, Claude Criner, died in 1974. Her son, Roger Criner,

BERT CRINER
Bert Criner, 78, of Vendor, died Thursday, June 21 at his home.
He ws born March 24,1912 in Vendor,the son of Joe and Gracie Campbell Criner.
He was a livestock farmer and lifetime resident of Newton County.
He is survived by his wife,Xenia Bolin Criner of Vendor;three sons,
Eddie Criner and Arbie Criner of Vendor,and Danny Criner of Western
Grove; five daughters,Gwendolyn Fiveash of Wetern Grove,
Katherine Slater of Raytown,Missouri,Betty Kirby and Maxine Hicks of
Harrison and Peggy Kestner of Independence,Missouri; a brother,
Loy Criner of Vendor; three sister, Dot Cheatham of Dover,
Nancy Smith and Wilma Middleton of Vendor, 24 grandchildren and 11
great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, a grandson,
a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were Saturday,June 23,at Log Hall Church in Vendor
with the Rev. Carl Goodall and Rex Middleton officiating,. Burial
was in Smith Cemetery under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel
in Harrison. Pallbearers were his grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cheatman; three
sisters; three brothers; two sons; and two stepdaughters.
She was 87 when she passed away at the Newton County Nursing Home.

Loy Lawson Criner, 63, Vendor,died April 9,1991 at his home.
He did not survice the six hour liver surgery to remove cancer,one
week after gallstone surgery.
He was son of Joe and Gracie Campbell Criner.
He was a farmer and lifelong resident of Newton County
He is survived by his wife Betsy Jones Criner of Vendor;three sons,
Lawton Criner and Howard Criner both of Vendor and Joe Criner of
Harrison; three sisters,Dot Cheatham of Dover, Wilma Middleton and
Nancy Smith,both of Vendor and four grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by his parents,two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were Friday,April 12 at Log Hall Church with
Carl Gooddall and Rex Middleton officiating.
Burial was in Sexton Cemetery at Mt.Judea under the direction of
Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.
Pallbearers included Red Lane,Bneny Marshall, Eddie Criner,
Danny Criner and J C Richardson.

MYRTLE SUTTON CRINER
Myrtle C Sutton Criner, age 87, of Texarkana,Arkansas died Wednesday,
April 20,1994 at her home.Mrs. Criner was born November 4, 1906 at
Red Rock,Arkansas.
She was a retired school teacher, member of Central Christian Church
where she taught the Berean Study School class, past regent of the
Daughters of the American Revolution, past chaplain and member of the
Eastern Star and past chaplain of the Beauceant Society.
Survivors include two brothers; Otto Sutton of Harrison, Arkansas and
Clyde Sutton of El Cerrito,California; two sisters, Allie Butt of
El Cerito and Narma Bowman of Macon, Georgia and 12 nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Criner who died in
1982.
Services were held Saturday, April 23 at East Memorial Funeral Home
Chapel with Dr Leslie Green officiating.Burial was in East memorial
Gardens.

his home.He was born April 15, 1918 at Mount Judea, the son of
James Frank and Emma Jane Boatman Criner.
He retired as a real estate agent in Anchorage,Alaska. He was a
member of the Church of Christ and Glacier Masonic Lodge #10 F&A.M.
in Anchorage,Alaska.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Brashears Criner of the home,
one sister,Irtle Paxton of Little Rock;two nephews,Dr. Bill F Hefley
of Little Rock and J.Spencer Paxton of Cold Bay, Alaska and two
nieces, Jonijane Paxton of Denver,Colorado and Rita Paschal of Little
Rock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Russell L Criner
and a sister Ruby B Hefley.
Graveside services were held in Sexton Cemetery,Mt.Judea with
L.Kyle Hefley and James Culbertson officiating. Pallbearers were
provided by Masons.
Funeral arrangements were by Christeson Funeral Home.

Helen Jefferson Lybrand, 95, of Harrison died Monday, March 2,2003
at Hilltop Nursing Center in Harrison. Graveside services will be at
2 p.m. Thursday,March 6 at Maplewood Cemetery with
Rev.Charles Cantrell officiating under the direction of Christeson
Funeral Home.There will no viewing or visitation.
The daughter of Ralph and Susan Criner Jefferson was born
April 2,1907 in Valley Springs.She was a resident of Boone county for
17 years and a resident of Watson Chapel until 1985.
She graduated from Valley Springs High School and Arkansas State
Teachers College/UCA with a bachelor's of science degree in History
and English. She taught at Watson Chapel and Dollarway Schools and
was first president and charter member of Watson Chapel Garden Club.
She taught Sunday school at several churches during her life and was
a member of Valley Springs Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening
and handwork.
She was preceded in death by her parents,one son, Marvin Lee Lybrand
and two brothers George Jefferson and Ralph W Jefferson Jr.She is
survived by a son Sam Lybrand of Roland; a daughter Georgia Welch of
Pine Bluff,a grandson Edward Lee Welch of Watson Chapel and a
brother Hersel Jefferson of Valley Springs.
